It is a hard case with an old mining style gas mask. It was last inspected in 1938 so has to be older than that. On the outside of the case it reads MSA Ammonia Gas Mask. Mine Safety Appliances Co. Efficiency- Service- Safety- Pittsburg. PA. All original with all parts. Paper on inside with instructions/ Includes mask with hose to canvas bag holding filter, extra filter, canvas strap. Only problem I can see are the lens. Both have spidered cracks, probably from heat. Should be able to replace from other gas masks. This auction is for a vintage heavy steel FM Chicago Protectoseal gas fuel jerry can in good rustic condition with one dent. One ding and a crease as seen in the photos. There is paint wear and surface rust but no holes or rust throughs. The spring loaded cap opens freely and the safety valve moves but stiff. This is a 5 gallon can that measures 20" tall to the handle, 16" tall to the top of the can, 14" long and 6 1/2" wide. It will weigh 20 pounds packed. Everything mechanically works fine all the burners light almost instantly and burn steady even with all 4 on at the same time. I have very little to say in regards to flaws there are some very minor cosmetic imperfections here and there. I will report that a couple of the knobs were scuffed up. I sanded and painted them and I think they came out pretty good but they are not perfect. Remember this is NOT a new unit but it looks pretty good. I would call it 9 out of 10 at least. Original Hercules Economy Hit Miss Gas Engine Steel Wheeled Cart Steam Tractor
This is a rather hard to find original cart for a 1 or 1 1/2 Hercules or Economy hit and miss gas engine. It is in pretty good condition for it's age. It has the original handle. The wheels measure 6 and 6 1/2 inches with a 1 3/4 inch face. The overall width and length of the rails is 9 1/4 x 27 5/8 inches. One of the front wheels has a repair that works alright but isn't the prettiest. It might be a good idea to take the other one which is perfect and have another one cast from it. One rear wheel has a cracked spoke by the hub and the other has two. Both of these would be easy repairs but they work just fine the way they are. This cart originally had a 1 or 1 1/2hp Economy or Hercules engine on it but would work for any engine of the 1-2hp size. This style cart is pretty hard to find in the wild or even at swap meets so don't ... moremiss your chance on it. It would certainly make moving your engine around easier!
