Metal Oil Derrick / Oilwell Drilling Rig Model / Nice Trophy or Gift
These are two really nice high quality models of Standard Oil Derricks/ Drilling Rigs. Nice models like these are rare. I purchased both of these over 30 years ago. They have a lot of detail with drillpipe standing in the derrick, a drilling line with crown sheaves and an actual set of blocks. They have production trees/ wellheads attached to the base with 2 casing valves, a single master valve and dual flowline valves. The larger one has a 9" x 9" base and is 23" tall. the smaller one has a 6" x 6' base and is 14 1/2" tall. The derricks look to be both constructed with brazing rods and the remainder of the items are brass plated. The larger rig has a small split part of the way across the base which could be easily glued or replaced with wood, granite or whatever one prefers. I attempted to include good photos ... moreto show the nice craftsmanship and quality put into these by the builder but my photos don't do them justise. They are a bit dusty but they are both in excellent condition except for the split in the larger base as you can see in the photos. Listing is for an oil& gas drill bit. I got this bit as part of an auction lot and honestly don't know much about it. The previous owner was an executive at an oil& gas company in Texas. This is a large and VERY HEAVY bit. It measures approximately 12" long x 7-1/8" at the widest part and weighs 65 pounds. Unfortunately I don't know enough about these to say it's exact condition. Obviously it's been used and I can see several of the teeth are broken and/or missing. I tried turning each of the cones by hand and one spins pretty easily. One takes a bit more force to spin and one doesn't spin at all by hand. All pictures shown are of the ACTUAL bit you will receive. Included is a mud pump.190ft of pipes,and 3 drill bits 6" 8" 12" I added 4 extention legs to the rig it was sitting too close to the ground so this way i raise it about 12 to 16 inches and use the legs to level the rig,also inside the legs i drive 4 rodes(included) to stabilize the unit while drilling in case you hit something,that way you don't have to recenter the rig it stays put. When drilling i detach the skid steer from the rig just the hydraulic stays connected. I bought it brand new 2 years ago from bore master stored it for winter in my shop and i digged 5 holes last year and now no more use for it. I am very impressed with the speed this rig can dig,the rig is in top condition and also ... morethe mud pump. With a vacuum pump(not included) it can be fastened to any smooth surface. It uses standard threaded bits. A Hilti water supply tank and 3 diamond core drill bits are included. Here we have a very nice VINTAGE item and this is a GETTY OIL- oil well pump jack the Getty logo and a flask what looks like real oil? Everything is encased in acrylic. As you move the item around the oil(or what ever it is) moves around. I think this item was from the Getty Oil refinery that once operated in Delaware City. Delaware for many years. What a great gift or a Getty collector or anyone that loves oil company items It has a black bottom and band and the main part is clear acrylic(the color you see is from my back ground) It stands 3" high-3" wide-at the base the depth is about 1 1/4"at the top it is about 1" deep. This vintage oil rig or oil derrick is from a local estate. The base measures 18" by 11" and the overall height is 25 34" The plaque on the front reads. WILDCAT" MADE ESPECIALLY FOR JOHN RANKIN. Marked on the side of the shed is the maker's name, McCraw 3 of 25 4-75. This piece is made of brass rods and various metal pieces. The detail is quite good. CONDITION: As you can see in pic. I need this rig sold and gone ASAP. I have well over $7500 in this machine but I need the money and extra space on my property. This water well rig needs a 20 horse power or bigger engine of your choice to be installed and engineered. I can instruct you on how to do this if you don't know how. Other than that. This rig is ready to drill! Has brand new tires and has a 1 7/8" hitch on the trailer. The rig was manufactured by"American Rig Co. Houtson, TX" in the 1950's but has modern upgrades. It comes with lots of accessories and extras including, 140' of pipe in 8-10' joints, swivel, 13' kelly, trash pump, suction and discharge lines, 2 3/8 tubing elevators, 7.875" 4.5" and 3" drill bits, battery and box, leveling/support jacks.
