Filson Tin Cloth Oil Finish Field Bag Wax Cotton Shoulder Pack Hunting Fishing
Up for bidding is my filson tin cloth field bag. I've had this for two years and its been my hunting bag through many long days. I change bags every few years and its time to get another filson bag. The bag is is excellent shape. There is a minor snag on the bottom of the bag. Which I pictured. It's not even through the tin cloth. There is a small 1/4 inch tear in one of the straps, also pictured, that does not effect the use of the bag. The patina on this bag is amazing looking. I just waxed the bag on my last outing so you should be good for a while. I will warn you that there are bits of the Pennsylvania Forrest inside and outside the bag(dirt) which I just let on there because it adds character or you can clean the bag and make it look like new again. CIVIL WAR PERIOD TRAVELING WHALE OIL CAMP or FIELD DESK LAMP
One of the definitive traveling camp or field desk lamps of the Civil War. This compact style is such that it makes it easy to stow and travel. It has a wire handle that allow for movement. As well. This style camp or field desk lamp is pictured in many of the reference books on Civil War period lighting and artifacts. Unlike the one I sold last week this one has a much larger fuel reservoir. The upper lamp is made entirely of sheet brass with a screw-on. Wick cover, filler cap and burner in one. The lantern measures about 2-1/2" high and 2" across the tin resevoir base. The lamp uses typical construction technique of the CW period. This lamp burned whale oil. Alcohol, kerosene, turpentine or any other lamp oil that was available. 1919 Burkburnett Mann Oil Co. statement from Field Superintendent- Texas oil field. Historical document- paper ephemera. This statement is typed on a 8½" x 11" sheet of paper. Statement of the Burkburnett-Mann Oil Co. No. 1 to Sept. 1. 1919 It shows the expenses and bank information for an amount of $5.046.98 and the extract of letter from the Field Superintendent is as follows: Since August 19th we have had employed on the Burkburnett-Mann Oil Company's well Mr. Abel. Who is known throughout Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma as an experienced driller and fisherman. The well continues to cave and he has so far been unable to clean out to the bottom of the tools that he might take hold of them and get them out. If this can be done I think the well will make from 15 to 20 barrels a day. If it can not be done in a reasonable time ... morethe well will not justify the expense and will have to be abandoned, leaving to the shareholders the two 50-50 wells on the leasehold. The one is doing about 15 barrels and the other is just put to pumping adn should produce a like amount. I think it was for checking temperature in gas and oil tanks or tankers, as that would affect the volume in the tank, but I really don’t know. It’s in very good condition. Old Original Dayton Iron Oil Field Hit Miss Gas Engine Yellow Dog Shop Torch WOW
This is a real nice original cast iron"yellow dog" or lamp that was commonly used in the oil fields as a source of light. It was made by the Dayton Malleable Iron Company in Dayton. Ohio and is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. The cover screws off nicely. It could use a new wick as the original is deteriorated quite a bit but these should be available from several sources rather inexpensively. This lamp measures about 4 inches in diameter and about 7 3/4 inches tall. It would be a fine addition to your early engine or oil field display. It will likely be quite some time before another one turns up and it probably won't be this nice. The pictures tell the story. You won't be disappointed in any way. Good Luck.

This is a real nice original old style 1 inch gas valve for a hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. It has mild wear and marks on it from its years of service. It moves as it should and is ready to be used on an engine. The threads are in great shape. It has"NS Co" casted into it which I believe is National Supply Company. This would look good on an old engine and it would even look good as a spare on the shelf. It would certainly look better than anything modern! These larger valves are getting harder to find every day so if you need one don't miss it. The pictures tell the story. It is a large 7/8 inch thread plug with long reach extension. These were used in the big oil field type engines. I checked it with an old magneto. It still throws a nice blue spark.
