I have 10 Sargent Mortise lockset's plus other pieces there are 6 with cylinders only one has a key. The others do not' then there is 4 passage sets I believe. All of them work fine they are all in pretty nice condition with some light scratch's but really not to bad. These are heavy like 5 lbs a piece so I will try to ship in flat rate box's I think it will take two, I will be pulling the handles off for shipping other wise just to bulky. shipping will be around $35.00 if it is a lot cheaper than that I will refund the difference.

Sargent 1930's mortise lock set with keys bungalow or atomic ranch
Solid brass and steel sargent lock from late 30's. Early 40's era. Kinda mid century modern in simple design, but a heavy look that could work in A&C's, mission or bungalow. Lock is set up for minimum of 1/3/4" doors, mortise is 1" thick so no doors thinner than 1 1/2" unless you build them up. 2 3/4" back set. A very under appreciated design that really shows the coming post war modern movement.

The knobs are solid brass. The mortise plate and strikers are solid brass. The back plates are solid brass. This is a rather large and heavy set. Meant to be secure for an exterior door. I didn't polish these as some people prefer the aged patina on them. But they would polish up beautifully. There is a threaded lock that was in it. But no key, so it would have to be re-keyed or replaced. A brass one would be more fitting. The deadbolt locks from the inside and the locking latch works. You are buying ONE(1) antique Sargent Brass Face Mortise Lock with a newer Russwin key and key lock cylinder. Spring action on the catch is very good. I could not see if the dead bolt moved. Key turns but the lock works do not move. note the minor surface rust on the lock interior. some of the japanned finish has flaked off due to the rust. I did not marry the Sargent and Russwin pieces. I rec'd the piece as shown in the pics. I subsequently unscrewed the bolt that held on one Russwin key lock cylinder and removed the lock cylinder so that I could fit the lock into a small flat rate box. The inside looks good.but you will have to judge that for yourself.

Antique Vintage Sargent & Co. Victorian/Eastlake Brass Mortise Entry Door Lockse
Today I have a Sargent& Co. Of New Haven, Connecticutt, entry door set. There is the makers name and a patent date of Jan. 26, 1886 on the lock. It appears to be brass, I didn't clean so the original patina is there. Comes with everything in pictures, lock with face plate, escutcheon plate with two key holes- one covered by cover that swings to side, key hole plate, thumb turn for deadbolt, round plate for handle to pass thru, two washers, and all original screws for mounting. It may be hard to see, but all plates have lots of detail on them. Cleaned up they should shine. The lock part that would fit in pocket measures, 4-3/4" tall, 7/8" wide, and 4-1/2" deep. Up for sale is a Sargent and Co easy spring mortice or mortise and doorknob set. Patent 1886. The doorknob part of the mortice works well, I don't know about the lock because I don't have the key. These were picked up from the Estate of Polly Judd, mother of Naomi Judd and Grandmother of Wynonna and Ashley Judd, located in Ashland, KY. This would be the home that Naomi Judd grew up in. I believe the elder Mrs. Judd needed to be moved to assisted living but am not completely sure of this. All of the brass has a nice patina. Antique Sargent& Co. Mortise Lock w/ Folding Key- Easy Spring lock. This lock has Patented 1886 and has never been installed in a door it has all the parts It is a reversible surface mount lock. It comes with its original surface mount strike plate, original etrustian plate, 2 original folding keys both marked#2. This is a very rare find and would be great on a Victorian era restoration project. The keys being an overall length of 6 inches unfolded with a usable length of 4 inches could be used on an extremely thick door. such as that found on a castle. As a welder I also could see this being adapted to a very heavy ornamental steel gate or entrance way. It is marked on one side"SARGENT& Co EASY SPRING" and on the other side"PATENTED FEB 24 1885 JAN 26 1886"the strike plate is marked"3911" both keys are ... moremarked"SARGENT 2" This lock can be used on a right or left hand door the catch is easily reversed the dead bolt is large and very strong the lock is about 4 inches high and 6 inches wide and about 1 inch thick the strike plate is 4 inches by 1 in ch by 1 inch the key plate is about 1 1/4 X 2 inches. there is very light surface rust on the dead bolt but it would be very east to remove the lock works very smoothly. A new high quality lock today would cost double my starting price and no where are strong as this lock weighs almost 4 pounds. If I can not get someone interested i will use it on my barn door that would be a shame. 2 SETS OF RARE ANTIQUE GLASS DOOR KNOBS, SARGENT MORTISE LOCKS AND BACK PLATES
This is a rare 100 year old package up for auction. We've been in the demolition business since may 2004. Salvaging on average between 150-200 houses per year. We have an extremely large amount of antique hardware of all kinds that is slowly being sold on this site. In all of our projects we have only come across these particular sets one time. Even throughout this site there are very few"antique" Sargent& Co. items. If what other sellers on here are asking just for the Sargent mortise locks are the average price. Then what i am offering is a bargain. Anyway. Included in this package are: 4(2 sets of) octagon glass door knobs. All have been cleaned from any dirt or paint and are in decent condition with no chips. There are a couple of minor scratches that i've tried to highlight in the last 2 pics. What makes these so ... morerare is that they are rounder at the top. Where as most are flat. 2 Sargent& Co.Easy Spring mortise locks.each measure at 4 3/8" long x 3 1/8" wide. They have a brass face that measures at 6 9/16" long. 4 solid brass Sargent& Co. back plates.each measure at 7 1/8" long x 2 1/2" wide. 2 solid brass strike plates(much thicker and heavier than the average plate)each measure at 4 1/4" long x 1 1/8" wide and 1 13/16" at the widest part. included as well are the original slot head screws.all but the biggest 4 are brass. Everything is in very good condition.there is wear that is consistant with age. Please observe the pics carefully and be sure when you bid. Antique Sargent Mortise Lock and Key with Strike Plate in Good Working Condition
This auction is for an Antique Sargent Mortise Lock and Key with Strike Plate in Good Working Condition. The lock measures about 3 1/2" tall and 3" wide. The distance from the front of the box to the center of the opening for the connecting rod is 2 1/4 inches. The distance from the center of the opening for the connecting rod to the center of the top of the keyhole is 2 1/8 inches. The face plate is 5 1/4" tall by 7/8" wide. Vintage Sargent and Penn mortise locks/door knobs lot with 1 skeleton key
These items are from an estate and were boxed together. I was told they were from old houses in Chicago but I don't know that for a fact. I have tried to show as much detail as possible. I haven't cleaned anything because I am not sure how to do it properly. I don't know if the locks work or not but they are really quite nice looking. I think.
