This listing is for a vintage wood container with a screw-on lid. This is a rather large container measuring approximately 17 1/2" in length. There are twenty-two(22) needles inside- some are metal and some look like a hard plastic. Several of the needles are marked- Chester 7" The container has a beautiful patina- a chestnut color. Miniature wooden handmade box fashioned to look like what we think is a lighthouse. The box is approximately 2 7/8" tall and 1 3/8" in diameter at the bottom. Made entirely of hand carved and turned wood which has aged to a beautifully rich patina. There is a tiny compartment inside just big enough for a tiny glass vial that is 1 1/2" including the cork. We think this was a perfume vial as there is a sweet scent to the cork and box. This box came from the estate of a long-time antique dealer who believed it was quite old and rare. Possibly from the"Arts& Crafts" Era. The entire piece is hand hammered, which is not seen very often among antique perfume bottles. The cap unscrews easily and creates a nice seal when tightened. Signed“STERLING” on top of the cap. Measures 1-3/4” tall by 3/4" wide. The bottle has a dark natural patina and is in excellent condition with no dings, dents, or repairs of any kind. The bottle came to us originally on the delicate sterling chain as shown. A very old hand crated necklace with very intricate silver detailing and tiny gemstone cabochons. I debated whether to remove the necklace as it has a tendency to get very ... moreeasily tangled. antique Victorian MOURNING TEAR CATCHER lachrymatory Glass VIAL w ORIG Stopper
Offered for auction is an old Victorian glass vial with its original stopper. These are called lachrymatories or tear catchers. From what I've researched there are several stories to go along with these. The most common one is during the Victorian era. At a more upscale funeral these vials were handed out to save the tears you've shed for the deceased. When the tears are collected in the vial, the stopper would be put in. Once the tears completely evaporated meant the end of the mourning period. This vial is found in great condition with no chips or cracks. It measures 7" with the stopper. 6 3/4" without. Some of the gold guild is gone, and some faded. The stopper is original to this vial. It looks like the end of it is a bit rough, it may have a small piece broken off. Two sides of this vial have x's that are etched ... morein and trimmed in gold. Also on those same sides in-between the x's are indentions for your fingers. 1950's Stork Club Figural Centerpiece w/ Empty Sortileg Vial, Flowers & Package
This listing is for a rare. Vintage 1953 Stork Club Gift Shop Figural Centerpiece in it's original packaging. The piece includes flower decoration and empty vial of Sortilege Perfume. The exclusive Stork Club perfume Sortilege, created at the suggestion of owner Sherman Billingsley, became a"must have" accessory of the elite who drank and dined there. This centerpiece is in very good condition having only been displayed by the original owner for the last 60 years. There is a hand written note that it was purchased from the Stork Club in 195 3. There is some yellowing to the pla stic outer cover of the box and some minor paint chips to the figural and the flowers while slightly dusty. Have retained most of their original color.
