vintage rare wood brass glass decanter test tube liquor bottle caddy set stand
this is an exquisite rare test tube liquor decanter caddy set. it is a beautiful design and the large glass decanters are in the shape of test tubes with long bodies. Rounded bottoms, and a spout at the top for pouring. they are capped by great brass tops with cork stoppers and wooden inlay finishing pieces. they each slide into holes in the top part of the base and sit recessed in the bottom part in little domed grooves. the base is a stunning glossy mahogany with brass/ gold gilt pillars. the stand has brass circle handles at the top which also have a nice gold gilt. the base is wonderfully footed with ornate brass feet and has a very nice. High quality look. the set measures 17 inches long by 11 1/4 inches tall. nice rare quality set. This auction is for ONE giant glass culture tube. This tube is a whopping 19.5" long with ~3" diameter. Filled to the brim. It holds 1500 mls.that's right, 1.5 liters! It is used but it is in great condition, only light wear from normal usage at a university lab, almost 30 years ago.No deep scratches, cracks or broken edges. It was made by Pyrex, although to the best of my knowledge these are not manufactured anymore. Here is a Handcrafted Teak Wood and Pyrex Glass Test Tube Bud Vase from the Mid-Century. It has a wood burned stamp on the bottom that reads- Handcrafted by?al Goodman. Probably Hal. This is most likely a one of a kind item, I've never seen another one. I will include the vintage orange Glass Flower that I displayed in it. The vase in almost 7 inches high and the base is almost 2 inches wide. There is no damage to either the vase or flower. The flower is 9 inches tall. Frey Scientific 100 ml Glass Test Tube / Beaker in Red Holder w/ Marker- Rain
This is a 100 ml glass tube in a holder. It is marked: Frey Scientific. It has blue lines with some of the lines going the whole way around the tube. Those lines are marked by the 10's starting at 10 and going to 100. The tube is almost 9 1/2" tall and about 1 1/8" across not including the spout. It has a red plastic base it stands in. It is marked: 100 ml. The base has a hexagon shape bottom and is about 2 5/8" across from side to side not point to point. There is also a red open ring that slides around the tube and can be moved up and down. This is nice if you want to measure the rain. You can move the marker to where the rain is when you check it and then when you check it again like an hour later. You will know how much it rained in that hour. This piece is marked: No. 4. Instrument was used for testing specific gravity of a solution. Length of Instrument is approx. ½” long. In tube whole set is 8 ½” long and 1 12” I diameter. Paper included appears to be a bulletin#51 from Carbondale Instrument Company regarding‘The Lime-Sulphur Hydrometer. I've had this bunch of glass tubes for decades. I'm not sure what to say about them. As they are so unusual. I think my grandfather had stored some cigars in them. As I am guessing that explains the residue. 4 large vials. 3 small vials as shown, with 5 WIRZ silver toned Crown topped Bottle Stoppers for Cork, plus 2 Gold toned Crown finials. The WIRZ Crown Stoppers were made in the late 1800's. 3 of the Vials are marked Pyrex Corning. As shown. I'm cleaning out my cupboards. So it is time for these to find a new keeper.
