And these had been stored for many years. They were intended to hold various chemicals for use in a school lab or apothecary bottle in early drugstores. This is an embossed bottle with raised lettering for the contents. The bottle stands a little over 5 inches high. 2 inches in diameter, with a flared lip, and has a glass penny style ground glass stopper. This bottle was found at an estate sale. It is 7" tall(with the cap) X 21/2" wide. When I found this bottle. The stopper was wrapped in paper and tied around the neck indicating that it was never used. I unwrapped it to take pictures. It is in mint condition with no cracks or chips. The bottle measures approximately 5.75 inches in height without the stopper and 6.5 inches with the stopper. The bottom measures approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. This stopper is not the original/correct one for this bottle, however I am selling both items together in this auction and the stopper does fit. Antique Vintage Apothecary Medicine Bottle Advertising Hydrochloric Acid 1800s
Very cool antique hydrochloric acid apothecary bottle. I believe it is from the late 1800s. The paper label shows some obvious signs of its age. Pieces of it have torn off. And a few of the exposed edges are brittle. The bottle has some dirt and residue on the inside and outside, but I know many collectors like that so I will leave it up to the buyer to decide whether to clean it or not. The stopper is stuck in place. It may be able to be removed with a bit of force, but I was afraid of breaking it, and I don't see any real need to remove it anyway, so I left it in place.
