Another item from my estate sale. With several more coming very soon. The estate broker describe this as a perfume bottle. It has a lovely Art Deco pattern on the outside made of crushed turquoise and onyx set in a silver metal that may or may not be sterling silver. These things aren't always hallmarked. Inside is a tiny brown bottle, glued or affixed somehow to the silver exterior. It is possible that this could be a medicine bottle, since this does date from the 20's or 30's, and opiate use was not a known among the kind of lady who may go out at night and use this sort of decorative bottle. Whatever this bottle held, it is a lovely decorative piece and a worthy addition to your Art Deco jewelry or decorative arts collection.

TINY FREEBLOWN FLASK OR VIAL, IRON PONTIL
This is an unusual little bottle. It is free blown in a'horse hoof' shape. Light green, inward rolled lip, and an'iron' pontil mark. I also has a ring of rough glass round the'iron' pontil.not broken glass like an open pontil. The glass is very clear and thin. There are small stress fractures around the lip as are often seen in rolled lips. This bottle is a puzzle. In shape and manufacture it seems to be quite old, but the clarity and condition of the glass throws me off. On the other hand I have never seen a reproduction with an iron pontil. It stands 2 1/2 inches tall and 1 1/2 at the base. The last photo is of some small medicine flasks of the same style taken at the German Pharmacy Museum.

Unger Bros. Sterling Top Perfume Vial/Bottle/Horn made of porcelain or pottery
This is a very unique Unger Brothers sterling silver topped perfume vial. Horn or bottle. All that I have seen prior to this perfume vial have been either all silver or glass topped with sterling, usually a cut glass, bottle or vial. This one is made of porcelain or maybe it is pottery. I am not an expert. The silver on the hinged lid is marked with the usual"U" imposed on top of a"B" in a circle. The Unger Brothers logo, followed by the words"STERLING 925 FINE" and then a repeat of the"UB" in a circle Unger Brothers logo mark. The silver is repoussed with what I am guessing to be scrolls and acanthus leaves. There is a monogram in the cartouche. The porcelain/pottery is an off white color and is made like a snake's tail, tappering to a point that wraps around on itself. The porcelain/pottery is ... moreglazed and"hand painted" with a green foliage and red berries motif. The branch or vine connecting the foliage and berries appears to be gold gilt. There are no markings on the porcelain/pottery that I have found. The only mark found is the clearly stamped Unger Brothers mark. The glaze does have some crazing. Under the sterling hinged lid there is a cork stopper that has a sterling cap on it. All parts of this cork stopper seem to fit perfectly together. So I am guessing that they are original. The overall length of this bottle and lid is approximately 3 1/2" and about 2" at the widest. I am glad to combine shipping costs. PA residents are required to pay sales tax.

Hallmarked 1869 Gorham sterling silver and cut crystal Victorian perfume vial. It has 4 rows of cut snowflake diamonds running from top to bottom and 4 rows of grooved lines in between the diamonds. The inside if the bottle is frosted. The bottom has been polished. Fancy floral sterling hinged top with center medallion for initials. It has a monogram in old English. EAS or EAL or ENS or ENL? The only letter I am sure of is the E. The other 2 are too fancy to read. The top is hinged and has a band of sterling around the crystal. The bottle measures 3 1/2" in length.
