Vintage Glass With Plastic Ends Advertising Thermometer-Old Lehigh Company's
This is a vintage glass. Metal and plastic cylinder shaped thermometer advertising LEHIGH NAVIGATION COAL CO. INC. 123 S. Broad St. Philadelphia,9 PA. Ph Kingsley 5-2610. The thermometer was made in the USA and measures 7 1/8 inches long and about 1 1/4 inches wide. The black plastic cap on top has a nib in the center and the bottom cap has a nib in the center with a hole on each side. There is no bracket with the thermometer to attach it to a wall or post. The advertisement at the top of the thermometer is in black print with a red dot circled by Old Lehigh Company's in black print. The thermometer is in fair to good condition with no chips or cracks. The inside of the glass has flecks of debri on the back and front and there is what looks like a 1/4 inch piece of debri on the back of the metal insert above the staple. The outside edges ... moreof the insert have light discoloration. The thermometer does work.

The colors are still very vibrant. The numbers and hand are a bold, black with no fading. The back shows some rust and the side have some paint slurs where the wall must have been painted around it. There are no cracks in the cover. If held at an angle, you can see some small spots on the cover, but when hanging, the thermometer looks like it is fresh out of the box. This is a great old COCA COLA/COKE"Drink in Bottles" advertising thermometer from the 1950's or possibly early 1960's. About 15 years ago while browsing at an antique store in Jerome AZ. I picked it up, put it back on the shelf and walked a couple isles over when I heard a crash.it had rolled off the shelf and broke the glass cover! So I bought it! It has lived in a storage drawer ever since. The thermometer is 12" in diameter, all metal, and seems to work great. Besides the missing glass, it also has rust damage(see photos) but would still look wonderful hanging on a wall. And you can get it for MUCH less than I paid! lol Thanks for looking. This is a 12" round glass faced advertising thermometer for KENTUCKY TAVERN Bourbon Whiskey. It features wonderful graphics of an old Kentucky Tavern with a bottle of Kentucky Tavern Bourbon. It is marked on the bottom BEST TASTE IN BOURBON. The thermometer works and records temperatures. There are no cracks or breaks on the glass face. Any imperfections seen in pictures are dust and/or dirt accumulation on the back of the outer glass that the camera flash accentuated. The bezel has two screws on the bottom to allow removal of glass face and there is a rubber gasket under the bezel to seal the thermometer from water. This is a vintage glass thermometer measuring 11 1/2" in length. It displays the temperature range from 0 to 100 degrees and on the side it is written"PROOF AND TRALLES- TP 60 F- Made in Germany" I believe this type of thermometer was used in cooking preparation- most likely used in bakeries. This is one of our favorite antique scenic advertising thermometers! Of course. It would be with the mirror centered behind reverse on glass pink roses, green leaves, and black background also reverse paint. Centered below this pretty scene in a small rectangle, it says Black's Mortuary Day 40 Phone Night 177 Corning, Ark. See thermometer firmly inserted to your upper left. Condition is good. Some wear on metal corners and a little bit of missing reverse paint are consistent with age. Size: 8 and 1/8 inches by 6 inches. Sturdy original cardboard in back with manufactured holes in which you can replace the original broken string. This is a neat old item! We love those old phone numbers!
