MECHANICAL STERLING SILVER DROPPER PENCIL ANTIQUE 1920 W MANTON SUPERB CONDITION
An interesting and unusual good-sized sterling silver mechanical dropper pencil. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1920 with the maker’s marks being WM for William Manton. It has been nicely designed having an engine turned body and loop allowing it to be attached to a watch chain or chatelaine. To operate it you press the button on the end. This releases the internal pencil holder and locks it in place, you then simply invert it and press the button which locks it back inside, it works perfectly it just requires a pencil which just pushes in. It is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures 3.5 inches(8.8cms) long and weighs 24 grams. A good quality more unusual example. Art Deco Era DeVilbiss Pink Glass Perfum Bottle. Hand blown and elegantly shaped in Czechoslovakia,circa1925 The main bottle color is soft pink, known as"gorge de pigeon" rare for that time. 22K gilding was also used to create the checks on the colorless middle part of the bottle. There is light wear to the gold gilt in some checks but overall the condition is very good. Beautifully decorated brass stopper has a built-in dauber glass rod(applicator) that is in its original excellent condition. The very top of the stopper in a flat side has inside wrinkles of the material, but you cannot feel it when you touch the surface of the top.Look at the pictures) They appeared due to the aging material like ones on the old paintings.
