Beautifully detailed Lion's Head Beaker to commemorate Prince William's christening August 4. 1982. The front has a colored photo of the prince in the arms of his mother Princess Diana with Prince Charles looking on proudly. This is number 277/500. There is damage to this piece a 3/4" strip, triangular shaped, and glued back. Some of the gold was rubbed off by the glue. It is on the back side of the piece and doesn't take away from. I have tried to picture the inside and outside of the damage, it was had to capture. It was damaged when I purchased it but since it is a rarer item. I wanted it. A VINTAGE BANDALASTA/BAKELITE BEAKER(Not sure exactly what the beaker is made from but it appears to be some form of Bandalasta/formaldehyde.Bakelite) There is a monogram on the base which looks to be a sailing ship with a'L' in the middle of it. I don't know whether this is a logo for'Linga' ware. I've trawled the net and can't find anything. If you know, please get in touch. We're rehabbing an historic old bank building and it's time to clean out the vault so we can paint its walls. We are listing a bunch of jewelry from various Grannies and estates that was still in there from when the bank moved out over 15 years ago. It's a BIG building. So we need to sell whatever we can to make it all happen. There's other old stuff in this building, too, but the jewelry is small and easy to mail and we know it is really popular, so we're starting with that. There was a lot of stuff in this building including over 1000 bats living in the upstairs(at least we DON'T have any mosquitoes or other pesky flying insects around here! but we've ... moreevicted the bats(humanely. Of course- they've rejoined the rest of the bat crew under a nearby bridge now) and the Haz Mat cleanup is completed, so now we're on to the serious stuff like painting, drywall, etc. The building is almost 120 years old, so there are many old items like light fixtures, parts, doors, a few tables, marble and various other old building materials waiting to be listed. We w ill also be listing other items of interest such as vintage home decor. Asian antiques, old watches,collectibles and some off-the-wall finds. Ground Pontil : Ultra-Violet : Blackglass Beaker : Deepest Purple Flask Ever
Ground Pontil Purple"Blackglass" Laboratory Beaker with Pinch Spout Mid to Late 1800s Our 16th Year on eBay! From our personal collection. A roughly ground pontil apothecary or laboratory flask in the darkest violet glass we have ever seen. We have owned many"blackglass" bottles and the dark purple variety is the most unusual, because it barely lets any light through at all. This one is so dark, that when held directly up to the sun on a clear day, absolutely no apparent lig ht comes through. Deep violet blackglass was used in the 1800s in an attempt to make a glass so dark that virtually no light came through. This was done in the pharmacy. Laboratory and apothecary trades in an attempt to prevent contents from being damaged by light; however, the glass was also used for decorative items because of the luster. The dark ... moreness of the violet glass in this piece is so dense. That items appear to be made of highly polished onyx stone. This is the closest to true"black" glass there is. The laboratory flask is hand-blown. With a roughly ground pontil and a pinched lip spout. It is in original, antique-mint condition, with only a couple tiny scratches and retains great sheen and gloss. The scratches are insignificant and mentioned for complete accuracy. The glass has no ground-wear at all. Th ere are no chips or cracks. Bottle collectors will know this color from the Blaud's Pills bottles. Please message us with questions in advance if you have any.
