Vintage AO Bausch &Lomb Ful Vue Safety Goggles Eye Glasses,Mesh Sides, steampunk
Here is a pair of AO American Optical(now Bausch and Lomb) safety glasses. The nose piece is marked Ful-Vue and 21. They are 4 5/8 inches from hinge to hinge. And the metal of the earpieces is about 6 inches long.The plastic of the earpieces curls down a little further than that. These old eyeglass frames are well made, with a double layer of metal at the nose. They are not magnetic, so may be nickel plated brass or a type of stainless steel. The glass prescription lenses are thick, beveled where they fit into the frames, and marked or etched with a small S near the top. The plastic coating over the earpieces has turned green over the years. This is shown in the photos. Measuring across from the outside of the lens it is 4 5/8" There is a number in a very obscure place around the nose piece area that looks like 23. They are being sold in as found condition- really, all that means is they are dirty! I put"steampunk" in the title as that seems to be a term that is being applied to items such as this. The inside edges of the shields show some corrosion that can be cleaned off and the wire ear pieces are wonky and need to be bent and shaped to the new wearer. They are complete with wire mesh side shields still intact with no breaks in wire mesh. Frames are of a tanish molded color and lenses have very little. Minor surface scratches. There is a tiny symbol or manufacturer's mark in a circle on each lenses. The hinges are sound and work well. Both side guards are in one piece. No rips, or breaks. The right side is in perfect form; however the left side has a slight dent in the mesh side guard which I have tried to show in the pictures. The side guards are firmly attached. VINTAGE YELLOW BAUSCH AND LOMB SAFETY GLASSES (2 PAIR) WITH BOXES STEAMPUNK
Two pair of vintage Bausch& Lomb safety glasses. These are a rare yellow frame color. The one set are used and bent and have scratches on the lenses. The other set appears new and unused. The glasses have the original boxes. They were coated with a white chalk. But I washed them and they came out very nice. A little more cleaning and the one set would be excellent.
