The tin seems small for the glasses, 2 3/4" across, but that's what they were found in. Tin has a couple of shallow dents. Up for sale: Vintage A.I. goggles. Don't know exactly what they were used for but could be aviation. Motorcycle, riding or safety. They are made of some type of hard plastic- could be bakelite or similar material but don't know. The lens caps screw off. There are currently 2 pieces of glass inside each cap- clear and greenish-tinged with a small plastic ring in-between. The outer edge of the lens caps is approx. 2-1/4" across. There is a ball chain in-between the two lenses with a plastic sleeve around it. There are screens on either side of the goggles. They are marked A.I. Made in USA. These goggles are in good used condition. They are missing the straps. Cesco brand"Wide Vision Goggles" These goggles have rounded. Clear glass interchangeable lenses, acid etched"CESCO" The goggle frames are silver metal, and are perforated for ventilation at the tops and bottoms. There is some whitish discoloration in spots on the metal. The sides of the goggles are hinged, to allow the lenses to be removed, and to adjust the elastic. The metal on the hinge on the right eye is broken at the bottom, but still moves in and out. The lenses are connected by an adjustable leather strap with a silver metal buckle over the nose. The inside of the frames- the part that touches the face- has a plasticy-rubber-y material stapled to it. The black elastic band is stretched out. They have a series of patent dates embossed into the bridge of the glasses that read" Pat July 30 07. June 16 08, and March 2 09. This would suggest that they are early 1900's goggles. They are in good overall condition for their age.the rubber is still somewhat pliable, glass is intact and clear with no major scratches. Here is a pair of American Optical safety goggles. The box is marked Drednaut 50 mm Goggles American Optical Company No. 120. I did not find any markings on the goggles or lenses. These have clear. Glass lenses. The ring on the outside of the lenses can be unscrewed to replace or change the lenses. These have an adjustable nose piece and elastic strap. These are used. They could use a little cleaning. The lenses have some scratches and tiny chips. There is corrosion to the nose piece. The metal piece to adjust the strap, and the metal ends on the strap. There is paint loss and light rust to the metal screens on the sides. There is a thin spot/hole in the strap near the metal piece that adjusts the strap(it can be seen in the picture of metal piece) The box has a lot of wear and staining. The mesh side shields are bent but in working order. They have original clear glass non-prescription lenses. The goggles measure approximately 5 inches across the front including the hinges. Great old pair of glasses. Wilson brand. Lenses screw off and are replaceable. In good shape- lenses are not bad at all. With just light scratches. The strap is broken. But still stretchy/flexible- might still be long enough to re-thread and use, but easily replaced if not. Body is made of a hard plastic type material. Very strong. Not sure what they were originally designed for.
