Monarch China Montana Rose oval dish 10" made in occupied Japan handle shapes
MONARCH SERVING BOWL. This is the Montana Rose pattern. There are shades of pink. Green, white, and gray on a white background. There is a line of gray around the middle of the platter and the rim has a thin line of gold. The ends have handle shaping and extra gold painting to help define them. There are a few spots where the gold has worn off, but the bowl looks very good. It has a stain almost in the middle. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing. MONARCH SUGAR DISH WITH LID. This is the Montana Rose pattern. There are shades of pink. Green, white, and gray on a white background. The rim has a thin line of gold. The ends of the dish have handle shaping and extra gold painting to help define them. The dish is round but the handles stick out just a bit to make it seem slightly oval. It has a pedestal. The gold trim looks fantastic with no signs or wear or thinning. It is very clean. Inside and out, without stains, blemishes, or dishwasher film. It remains shiny and smooth without crazing. Here I have the original wooden display box that was used at Monarch to hold their oranges. Tomatoes and several other fruits and vegitables. Most of the produce came from California and shipped all over the country. The company started in 1853 and as to how old this box is, I have no idea other than the early 1900's. It is still in very good shape for as many years it has been sitting. I've had it for 25 years sitting in the attic filled with smalls. This is a tin container with a hinged top. It's the 16 oz. size of MONARCH COCOA. It's 6 inches tall and 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 in width and depth. Printed lithograph container in good condition dates around 1923. Made by Reid Murdoch& Co. Chicago, Ill. There are several small dented spots on the upper part of one side. Overall the tin has light rubbing wear. And in some places the metal has darkened or tanned slightly with an age patina. Condition is st ill good enough to add this cocoa tin to a collection. Here is a Monarch 1 lb Cardboard Coffee Container manufactured by Reid. Murdoch& Co. of Chicago. This container measures 6" tall by 4 1/4" in diameter. Overall this container is in good condition. As you can see in the photos. The paper label shows some moderate wear and soiling. The label has some small tears and missing portions as well. There is a thumbprint sized dent in the cardboard on one of the sides as well. The lid is tin and is likely a replacement. The glare in the photos is a result of the container's plastic shrink-wrapping reflecting the camera flash. This container has been shrink-wrapped in plastic to protect it from wear and damage. Monarch Accidental Insurance ID medal, telegraph #, Springfield Mass.
Insurance company collectors will like this unusual medal. Looks like it may have been worn on a neck or key chain. Almost an inch in diameter and could be sterling but not marked.has the word grammes on back side. The front has a letter overlapped cartouche for the Monarch Accidental Insurance Co. The reverse I found interesting that it says telegraph this Number to the insurance co. I'm sure in case of an accident. This may help date the piece. Shipping is $1.90 to US.
