Up for bids in a vintage Merrow blade sharpener used to sharpen the cutting blades in a Merrow overlock/serger. It was made by Merrow Machine Co. in Hartford Conn. It holds the blades at the proper angle and the dial at the left allows for adjusting the cutting depth of the blade. It allows the blade to be sharpened with taking the minimum of steel off the blade. Thus extending the blade life. The lever at the right skims the blade back and forth on the cutting wheel. It has 3 oiling openings, one above the brass tag and two below it. All the oiling holes have the original spring loaded dust shields intact. The unit is all original black texuted/ crackle paint. It could use a good cleaning, but is in excellent condition. The cutting wheel is in all but new condition, plenty of grinding stone on it. This was made by the Crystal Stropper Company from Milton. Massachusetts. The box lid has come apart on the corners and it is dirty and water stained. The Stropper is in excellent condition. This is a Rapala J. Martiini filet knife with a six inch blade. The blade inscription says: J. Martiini. Finland, Hand Ground Stainless. There is also the Rapala name and J. Martiini on the leather. The blade has no nicks and the tip has straight. The wooden handle and leather sheaf have a few blemishes.
