This is an old steady rest for what looks like a 16" lathe. This is a nice well built steady rest, I wish it fit my 18" lathe. It actually came with my lathe lathe when I bought it, but It didn't fit it. I was going to make an adapter for it, but I found a steady rest that's correct for my machine. I don't know what brand lathe this was made for, but if your creative you could probably make it work on several different brands. Let me know if you need specific measurements, Thanks.

Vintage Lathe Steady Rest - Unknown Maker - Atlas Craftsman South Bend Logan ???
I've had this for a while. But don't know what lathe it goes to. I have not been able to find any markings or numbers, but the casting and style looks to be VERY old. The distance from the middle of the notch on the bottom to the center of the other flat part where the rest sits on the lathe bed is approx. 4" The total width of the bottom is approx. 4 5/8" The height looks to be correct for a lathe with a 9" swing If you happen to know what this fits. 3" Capacity Lathe Steady Rest, Center Rest, DAYTON, ATLAS, SOUTH BEND
This is from the workshop of a local estate. This is a steady rest that was used by the previous owner on a DAYTON metal lathe. But it will probably fit an Atlas or South Bend, as well. It will accept 3 inch stock, and measures 5 inches from the center to the lathe ways. There is no maker's mark. The only mark I find on it is-125 on the base. You may want to clean it up a little, but it works perfectly fine as is. Please look at the photos and ask any questions you may have. This will ship in the large USPS Flat Rate Box, which is the cheapest way to go.

Here is a complete and all original steady rest from a 10 Atlas metal Lathe. This one has the correct bottom clamp wich many do not. Nice condition. no damage. The lathe was owned by an old man who bought it new. He took great care of it and only used it for a hobby lathe. Shipping on the steady rest will be $13.99 in the lower 48 states. I have Union 4 jaw chuck that came with this lathe that was only mounted on the lathe 2 times for about 15 minutes. it is super tight and you will never find another with that little use. I owned this lathe several years ago. Found the steady rest and a few other pieces in a box. Don't need it anymore. It was definitely off a southbend as you can see in the pictures. I believe it to be a 9 inch lathe but not for sure. it measures roughly 4-5/8 from the flat way contact up to the parting line where the rest opens up. Good condition. I inherited some of my uncle belongings. He was a machinist which is something I know very little about. I do not have any use for these fine tools and know very little about them. The steady rest is marked M6-326, but there is no markings on the faceplate. The faceplate measures 5 1/4" in diameter. The gear set appears to have never been used.
