Acrylic Casting Mementos - IBM Component and Motorola Honorarium
I have 2 desk top mementos or paperweights. The first one is from IBM and has a special device embedded. The device is the Austin Texas designed Power Hybrid Driver. It is named that because it was designed to regulate power in high speed printers to control heat dissipation. The word Hybrid describes the type of package it was.a multi-chip. Multi-component part assembled on a ceramic substrate then ovemolded using a thermosetting plastic. This was a difficult package to assemble because there was a heat spreader on the back side that had to be held down in the mold to prevent flashing of the overmold. The package outline is an 18 pin DIP which is inserted into the circuit board at board assembly. The development of the part began in'86 and implementation of the part in IBM printers took place in'87. The second memento is from Motorola ... moreand commemorates the Sector Technology Celebration in 1993. This was given to Motorola's employees in Austin Texas to provide focus on Total Customer Satisfaction. Both of these items are vintage and.
