With a toggle select for either deuterium or tungsten lamp this compact and lightweight unit can measure absorption or transmission from about 200 nm in the UV up to about 800 nm in the near infrared. The dial goes to 1000 nm and the operator's manual says it can measure this but our experience is that the Spec 20 line of detectors become much less sensitive at this range. Sample holder takes either cuvettes or 12 mm diameter test tubes. TESTING: We tested this unit with a quartz cuvette by measuring absorbance of serial dilutions of fluorescein at 485 nm and with serial dilutions of BSA at 285 nm.
