Very old veteran bicycle bike siren nickel fork bell alarm wheel driven vintage
The siren is in good working order and unblemished. But the nickel is a little tarnished. The siren is mounted on a spring loaded arm and is engaged with a rod or wire, note, the activating rod/wire is not with the siren. The mounting plate is flat on the inside and rounded on the outer to suit front fork blade shape. When activated the siren’s serrated pulley engages with the front tyre which spins the siren to cause a loud wailing sound. The pulley is Bakelite and is worn on the outer end. I plugged it in and it started to get very loud. The Siren was made in Chicago. Ill by the W. S. Darby Company, Municipal Suppliers. It has a cool, Art Deco/George Jetson futuristic design look to it. The Siren could use a good cleaning(but I will leave that up to the Winning Bidder) It had been stored on a shelf in a garage was very dusty when I took it down. It fully wired for 115v and is ready to plug in and use. It appears to have been painted silver ... moreat some time in the past. The only thing I can see wrong is there is one screw missing on the housing cover and there is some denting and dinging at the sides of the housing case as you can see in my photos but it does not affect usability. I think with a couple of good body shop tools, you could knock out the dents in a few minutes. There are some spots, some scuffs and scratches to the paint from use and storage. The unit has a length of approximately 12-1/2" No carry case, paperwork or other accessories are included. Only what you see in my photos. Vintage 50'S/ 60'S Federal Sign and Signal Corporation Electric Dual Horn in working condition. Here is a great item from the 50's and 60's that is still in working condition. This is from Federal Sign and Signal Corporation out of Chicago. Illinois. It is the model 36 Electric horn. It reminds me of the horns we had installed at our Elementary School to warn us of any type of foreign attack. The horn is 110/120 Volts. 60 cycles, 25 amps and has the serial number 7A14M7. It is approximately 7.5" side, 7" deep and 6" tall. I hooked it up to a 12 amp battery charger and the horn still works. The only thing needed is few bolts and you are ready for any emergency. Vintage. Federal Sign and Signal Corporation siren. Model# is a little hard to read on tag, but looks like FG-2L12N1. 12V DC. Can also read"Blue Island" But not the state. Would guess Illinois. Has original cloth power wire. All there, although, aged. Tested. It is LOUD! Comes with original mounting bracket. Steel construction. Siren cage and mounting bracket are aluminum. Front circle diameter is 6" Rear section outside diameter is 3" Height with mounting bracket is 8" Length is 8 1/2" Has original age patina. No attempt to restore or clean. Weight is about 8 pounds. Not packaged.
