Vintage 1950's Kay tube guitar amp by Radionics of Chicago. 8"Jensen. Works!!!
This is an OLD 1950's KAy guitar amp made by Radionics of Chicago. It works. And sounds great. It is a small amp with an 8" Jensen speaker. The tube layout is 6V6 gt, 6SJ7, 5Y3. This amp has a great vintage sound, and would make a great addition to any collection or recording arsenal. It loves a distortion pedal, and has a nice break up on it's own. The clean sound is the real treat with this amp. Here is a chance to buy a little piece of history, as this amp was made in Chicago at the time rock and roll was being born. Harmonica players have found these little amps to be a great companion. I hate to let this little guy go, but I have to clear the herd(my wife says so) The good: It works and has a great vintage sound. Volume potentiometer"Stackpole Electronics" 304335 dates this amp as the 35th week of 1943 or 1953. ... moreJudging by the speaker, I am figuring it is a 1953-54. The Jensen Speaker is an 8" 4 ohm speaker P8-T ST117 Alnico magnet, transformer is a P2560. The schematic and parts list is still on the inside of the amp. The death cap has been removed, which was causing a problem with the amp. The Bad: The handle has been replaced with a reproduction leather handle. I still have the old handle that I will include, but it is beyond repair or use. The light has been replaced, but I will include the burned out lamp for future reference. There is one phillips head screw holding the back panel that is not original. The inside looks like it is all original, but I am not an expert on these old amps. The speaker has been serviced for a small rip and missing dust cover. I have a youtube video. But can't seem to embed it here. Radionics Machine
I do not know much about this machine. A friend of mind gave it to me. He said it was its dads machine. He was a chiropractor in town. He used it on the patients he care for. It comes with this paper that says electronic laboratory analysis, The case is in rough shape with some wear and scratches, But the inside looks good. The outside case is made from cowhide. The case is tan in color. It measures 13 by 17 inches. I assumed it was an electroshock therapy machine. I trun it on and the D.C. volts came on.
