Vintage 50'S/ 60'S Federal Sign and Signal Corporation Electric Dual Horn in working condition. Here is a great item from the 50's and 60's that is still in working condition. This is from Federal Sign and Signal Corporation out of Chicago. Illinois. It is the model 36 Electric horn. It reminds me of the horns we had installed at our Elementary School to warn us of any type of foreign attack. The horn is 110/120 Volts. 60 cycles, 25 amps and has the serial number 7A14M7. It is approximately 7.5" side, 7" deep and 6" tall. I hooked it up to a 12 amp battery charger and the horn still works. The only thing needed is few bolts and you are ready for any emergency. This siren is wired and ready to go. Its loud and its fun. It is currently mounted to a 18"x12" base with a handle. The extension cords might seem confusing but they make the siren immediately usable at a safe distance. From the plug the yellow cord extends just over 15' to the siren. Has original cloth power wire. All there, although, aged. Tested. It is LOUD! Comes with original mounting bracket. Steel construction. Siren cage and mounting bracket are aluminum. Front circle diameter is 6" Rear section outside diameter is 3" Height with mounting bracket is 8" Length is 8 1/2" Has original age patina. No attempt to restore or clean. Weight is about 8 pounds. This lot consists of an old fire alarm box made by Federal Electric Company of Chicago. Illinois, circa 1915. It is made of cast iron in the shape of a little red house with a peaked roof, with cornice details, and embossed lettering on the front: Federal Electric Co. Chicago, 212, For Fire Break Glass Pull Lever. The outer box has a vertical screw fitting for a post or light to be attached. Inside the cast iron outer box is a separate metal box marked“Pull Lever Down And Let Go” and“Test Key. There are gears like clockwork inside. It is separate form the outer box but it appears that a few bolts through the back would hold them together. Both the outer box and the inner workings are marked“212” another part is marked“217. There is a lightning arrestor in the bottom inside: an implement that clips in and out, revealing a porcelain backplate ... morewith raised lettering: Vacuum_Lightning Arrestor, Type 390, L.S. Hi Up for sale is a nice Federal 12 volt siren Sr#2D251N76 The inner fan spins very well and coasts forever the electric motor is in great shape and it fires right up.This one has the electric plunger brake and it functions too.This is in very nice mechanical shape.The outer housings show scratches and some small dings and dents the worst being at the 1 clock position on the front you can see a crease spot that was fixed a bit.the back shell is pretty nice the crome is good and shiny it is not new but decent a 7 out of 10 at least. the front housing would be a 5-6 in my book.the main aluminum housing has crome peeling and pits but looks good at 10 feet overall it is very solid and would preform as is no problem and recromed would be of course awsome. VINTAGE ELECTRIC ALARM HORM - FEDERAL SIGN AND SIGNAL CORP.
This is a vintage alarm horn that is in good working condition. This has no label as to who made it but I have one other listed that is similar to it and that one has label which states that one was made by the Federal Sign and Signal Corp. of Blue Island. IL. That label also states that it is a 125 volt electric horn. It has a built in on/off switch in the cord. The horn end is made of brass and is 16" long and the total length is 20" It is about 7" in diameter. The diameter of the bell end of the horn is 4" The brass horn can be easily removed from the base by just pulling on it. You can see in the pictures that the brass horn has a slight bend in it. This has a nice loud sound to it. If I were to compare the sound to something, I would say it's like the horn at a college basketball game that is sounded when a substitute ... moreplayer is to enter the game.
