Vintage floppy disk punch, great condition for 3.5 inch disks
Exact item shown. When 3.5 inch disks were the new thing and expensive. The lower capacity(720) K disks were much cheaper- this was a way to trick the computer into thinking the 720K disks were really 1.44 meg disks- they would often format with a few bad sectors(which is why they weren't 1.44 meg) but would have a lot more than 720K capacity. This would be great for a vintage computer stuff collection, I can't imagine using it now except to show what we used to do"back in the day" To use this, you would place it against the upper left corner of the disk(the side that doesn't have the write lock tab) and punch a hole. If you compare 720K and 1.44 meg disks you will see that the higher capacity disks have a hole on that side that the lower capacity doesn't. This tool makes the missing hole. Check out my!

It's marked"Towle" Silverplate" Italy" on the back of the handle. It measures approx. 13.5-14" in length. I did polish it and it has some stain areas that didn't polish out by hand and is pitted on the inside of the bowl. Vintage 1940s Embroidery Wool B&W Colonial Punch Needle Portraits Oval Frame PR
Up for bid is an incredible and well done example of the RARE early American art form of punch needle embroidery. This beautiful art form consists of small loops of wool yarn or floss that creates a picture. This set of portraits is of a colonial couple with silhouettes in black on a cream white background with a soft sheen produced by the wool. These were framed by the artist. Probably in the 1950s, in inexpensive by appropriate oval frames that are marked with“Made in Italy” and which measure approximately 8 ¼” by 6 ¾” and which do an excellent job of displaying the work of a very talented needle artist. Both portraits are in very good vintage condition. Please keep in mind this is not a new item. I try to describe items as accurately as possible. But cannot always detail each flaw. Crazing and manufacturing flaws such as pin ... moreheads, color variations, straw marks, bubbles, inclusions, and other manufacturing anomalies are considered normal for glass, china, and pottery of age. McBee Company Athens OH Vintage Bakelite Computer Key Punch Card Sorting Tool A little history is necessary before the items description: The McBee Company was a leading manufacturer of accounting and statistical machines and supplies in the 1950's. In 1954 they merged with Royal Typewriter and became the Royal McBee Corporation. Later in the 1950's and 60's the McBee division of Royal went on to produce some of the worlds first punch-card and transistor computers. The tool in this auction was used to transfer sorted punch cards between the sorting machine and the"computer" It has an adjustable length shaft that could be lengthened or shortened depending on the number of punch cards being transferred. The handle is olive green& black"swirled" bakelite with a nickel plated collet to hold the shaft. The butt ... moreend has a hole to allow the end of the shaft to protrude if need be. The tool is in excellent condition with a clean& shiny bakelite handle and a straight shaft that has only some light corrosion marks. The shaft is approx. 10¼" long and the handle 5" long. The tool is marked"The McBee Company Athens Ohio" which would indicate it was manufactured before the merger with Royal Typewriter in 1954 when. Joseph Cosman& Company"Three Ring Circus" paper punch out with 22 original plastic figures in good condition but with a few issues that I will mention. The first 2 photos are of the wax/cellophane type paper envelope with instructions that all the"punch out cards" fit in. This measures 11 3/4" by 9 1/4" There are tears. Folds, and wrinkles all along the outside edges. Photos 3 through 7 show the same single 4-fold paper. Photo 3 shows 1 side of the 4-fold. Photo 4 shows same side close up with edge pieces that have come loose ... morefrom the card. The ends of these edge pieces are torn and they have wrinkles/creases throughout. I think the larger blue strip is the only one used as part of the model. No tears on this piece. Photo 5 shows the flip side of the 4-fold. Notice the discoloring in the upper and lower corners on the right side. Photo 6 shows the 4-fold opened to 2-fold. Photo 7 shows the 4-fold opened. I did not picture the other side as these are difficult to flip over without the pieces wanting to come unpunched. They already dangle enough. Photo 8 is a single sheet. Photo 9 shows 1 side of a 3 sheet. Photo 10 shows the flip side of the same 3 sheet. Photo 11 shows the same side as 10 with 2 pieces that have come unpunched. A third piece has since fallen out. Photo 12 shows the inside sheet of the 3 sheet. The mailer envelope is in"well used" condition with wrinkles. Creases, worn corners and tape. I can not make out a date on the post mark. No zip code. The 22 hard plastic figures are like new. No breaks and still shinny. They stand about 1 3/4" high. I have a lot of school classroom educational and teaching aids from the same teacher dating from the 40's. 50's and 60'
