I found this sander at an estate sale here locally and learned it was owned ... moreby a cabinet maker who took exceptional care of his tools. There is no type indicator on this tool. It is one of the very first models made before typing began. This sander starts quickly and immediately gets up to speed. The drive wheel is in fantastic shape with solid rubber that is not decayed or cracked. The front wheel is straight and there is no evidence of it having been dropped or abused. These sanders are heavy and are frequently dropped which breaks the handle or the front left wheel mount. Not this tool. Nothing is cracked or damaged and everything is where it should be and operates correctly. This sander is in as found condition and could use a good cleaning. The cord is in OK shape but shows some wear and a tape repair by the strain relief. This is a classic sander in outstanding condition. Ready for your collection or bench. Feel free to provide any information I may have omitted in the listing. I appreciate any input. Also ask questions if you have any. I have a porter cable 10" sander up for auction. This sander I have changed all the bearings and belts. The drum is in good shape and has plenty of life left on it. All the wheels are new and rolls good on floor. I have used it on two jobs to check it out and runs strong. You would have to but 12" sand paper and cut it down to 10" This sander runs very well. It looked awful due to neglect and wear on the paint, being a 25 year experienced industrial mecanic i completly dismantled every part and had the motor checked and fitted with new bearing by a Professional electric motor rebuilder, i had all casted parts sandblasted and removed every brass parts to polish them, it was repainted with 3 coats of enamel matched as close as posible to the original color, the original identification tag was removed for painting and new rivets were put in like the original one, the disk plate has and no more than 0.015' runout on it, this D1 sander was dynamicly balanced to perfection straight out of the porter-Cable manufacturing ... moreplant, look at the youtube video below at the end of this description to see an hear it operate, its a beauty! its starts and turns like no other electric motor i have ever heard, im selling it because im not using it and its taking space in my garage, i will profesionnaly crate this sander with the upmost care and make it gorilla proof so no issue can arise due to handling in shipping, i will mark with fragile stencils on crate, 120 volts power, Only missing the upper leaf guard. please contact me for freight charges. please feel free to ask any questions that has not been answered in description Happy purchase, 100% feedback as a seller

Porter Cable 505 half-sheet finishing sander with new pad made in USA
This sander was in great shape when I bought it a few years ago and it still is. I've used it occasionally. And because I have another one as well, this one is up for sale. Check the pics for condition. Has a new pad that I put on about a year ago(they run about 10 bucks) but have maybe turned it on five times since. The pad is still like new with nice sharp edges. Sander has some scratches on the top, where I'm guessing the retired gentleman I bought it from had a habit of setting the thing upside down to let it wind down after turning it off. I'm not sure how else that happens. The rubber cord boot started to crack a couple years ago, and a chunk came off the end, so I wrapped it in electrical tape to nip that issue in the bud. The insulation on the cord itself is fine; it's not showing wires at the end of the boot like ... moreyou see on lots of corded power tools. That's about all I can see wrong with it. In great working condition and runs nice. It gives a pretty good vibration for a second or two on startup, and then smooths right out.unlike a Porter Cable 330 Speed Bloc I have that will vibrate your hand off until you hold it upside down and rap it a few times with a block of wood. Porter Cable Speedmatic model 500 belt sander locomotive vintage with dust bag
This sander is a beast and runs great. Though honestly. I've never actually sanded with it and I've never even but a belt on it. Takes a 4 x 27 belt, which is an odd size, but can be ordered. McMaster Carr has them and you can order them online from them, I know that much. Sander shows some shop rash, but for the age it's in pretty nice shape. The bag is a little worse for wear. It has several small tears in it, and the zipper head is missing.so it's not functional by any means.but has strong"cool factor. You'll want to get a new one for actual use. Both black handles are in nice shape with no chips or cracks. Aluminum has no cracks. The two ventilation screens are a little rippled, but there are no tears or punctures. Serial number 385. The sheet metal piece over the platen has a bit of tearing near the back edge(see ... morepicture) The cork underneath looks pretty good. The cord is intact(not sure if it's original or not, but appears to be) though it looks to have been run over by the belt a few times. None of the scars are too deep however, and certainly not through to the wires. 10 amps. This sander is the big brother to the 503. It's either the largest or second-largest belt sander Porter Cable made, I forget which. I think it dates from the 1940's, as the badge is the black Speedmatic one instead of the more common red. Only parts missing that I'm aware of is one drive screw that holds the badge on(lower left in the badge close-up pic) If you want to see specific pictures let me know and I will post them. Sander runs strong and does not make any offending noise when running. The switch is nice and solid feeling.very positive. Made right here in Syracuse, NY.
