Beautiful Vintage Johann Reiter by Erich Sandner 4/4 Mittenwald Bayern Violin comes with a written appraisal from Marshall music stating the value at $2000.00"Johann Reiter Instrumentenmacher and Raparateur" The original label inside the violin is signed by Erich Sandner 1965(see close-up pictures of label inside) It has only had one owner for this very well taken care of violin who purchased it in Mittenwald Germany in 1966. It was recently taken to a music shop who stated it is an intermediate to professional quality violin in very good condition and plays beautifully. Description: Top is made of narrow grained spruce. Back an sides are highly flamed maple. Trim is ebony. The varnish has an amber base with an orange/brown antiqued outer varnish. Note: Johann Reiter died in 1959. Therefore, this violin was probably made by Erich ... moreSander using Reiter's pattern. Research indicates that Erich Sander had been Reiter's apprentice. Rare Antique signed inkwell and sander set concealed under colonial figurines
Fine detailed antique colonial figurines concealing an inkwell and sander set. The figures have been intricately painted in very fine detail. The faces are a soft non glossy finish with great attention to features and expressions.Two figures are seated and two are standing. The seated woman appears to be whispering something to the younger seated gentleman. The paint on the dresses. Coats and slacks is smooth but the areas that appear to be lace and stitching are raised and textured. The figurine portion is in excellent condition without any chips, but some of the gold paint around the base has been worn away. Both of the removable cups that hold the ink and the sand are void of chips and are in great condition. Again some of the gold paint is worn away. There is one large chip on the underside of the base that holds the inkwell set it appears ... moreto have been dabbed with paint or polish I am not sure why. The inside of the colonial figures and the base have what appear to be a an upper case I or H carved into the porcelain. Next to the capital I or H inside the figurine top is a small cursive 6 or b. The base is also signed with an S. I cannot tell what the signature says. I did take several pictures of the imprints and the signature. The figurine portion of the set measures 8" high by approx. 8" wide. The ink cup holders are 1& 5/8" tall. The actual cup that holds the ink is 1& 1/2" tall by 2" wide, the sand holder is 1& 7/8" tall by 1& 7/8" wide. This piece came from our aunts collection, who was an avid antique collector, she passed away at the age of 95, 22 years ago. I will be putting other items from the collection on soon so stay posted.

A 4/4 size German violin made on a Strad pattern in the late 19th century. The original label reads"Franz Sander Naiheim anno1988 West Germany 51905" There is also handwritten"48K" Overall length of the violin is about 23 1/8" Corpus 13 15/16" Upper bout 6 9/16" Middle bout 4 1/2" Lower bout 8 1/4" Stop(including the nut) 5 1/2" The table is made of two pieces of good quality wide straight grain spruce. Two piece maple back. Ribs, neck and scroll of some flame. Original reddish amber varnish. To me the tone seems very even bright. Rich with overtones and full sounding bass tones. The plates retain there original thicknesses. The violin has the original expensive German ebony and burnished gold tailpiece, pegs, chinrest and endpin. This auction is for a very rare advertising lighted sign from the 1950's. Can't be many of these out there. Super cool graphics for sure. Light does work. I was told it was from a closed hardware store in Central Iowa. It is an advertising light for floor finishing equipment with a pin-up style woman who is finishing the floors. It is in great shape. Please see the pictures. There are a couple of small areas with paint loss and the finish on the metal frame that holds the piece together is tarnished. Measures approx 14 1/2" W x 7" H x 5" Deep.
