Runs strong, and winds down smoothly. Both Sandpaper Backing Pads are in good shape. There are a couple spots of white paint splatter on the sander body and on the cord. I purchased this sander when I was repainting the interior doors in my home and wanted a sander that had decent dust collection and the ability to use hard pads(for sanding large flat areas) and soft pads(for sanding profiles and raised panels) The reviews I read all ranked this Porter Cable favorably for its dust collection capabilities and reasoable vibration(compared to similar sanders from other manufacturers) Anyway. I'm long finished with my doors and since I'm doing a bit of reorganizing of my workshop I figure it's time to let this sander go. Take a look at the pictures and feel free to ask any questions. Vintage Porter Cable 564 Heavy Duty 4'x24" Belt Sander
Rare model. Weighs 14 lbs before packing. Motor runs strong and sounds good as do the bearings but apparently the handle was cracked as it looks like epoxy run around it at both ends where it meets the machine. Handle feels sound and snug with no wobble. Also the wiring is probably damaged where it enters the handle as it is taped there and it does show some age cracking at other spots. I'm thinking the handle cracked and the previous owner reinforced it before it became a major problem and unusable. It is an estate machine so know one to ask. This Vintage Porter Cable Take About Model A-3 Locomotive sander is in great condition. The sander works well and runs smooth. I will note the cord is frayed some were it makes the turn into the housing but no wires are cut but I would still think about putting a new cord on it. This sander is in really nice shape and I only cleaned it a little and got it shinning so with a little more effort this unit would look really nice.
