Rockwell(now Porter Cable) pneumatic belt sander. This sander is NOT for home use. As the volume of air required to power it would turn the average home owned compressor inside out. This sander is for shop use! If you have ever used the Porter Cable electric"locomotive" belt sander and liked it. You'll love this one. It has tons of power(you won't be able to stop it) and you'll probably die of old age before you wear it out. I've been in the wood working industry for 26 years and have used every kind of belt sander and the Porter Cable worm drive is the best. This sander is also worm drive(requires oil) and I would use it exclusively if the shop where I work would let me set it up. They won't, for reasons I don't understand. I have removed the original platen and cork board(included in auction) and installed ... morea piece of graphite(pictured) in it's place. The graphite lasts far longer and gives the working surface a smoother finish. Also included is 50' of 1/2" hose(also pictured) with quick connect fittings to power the sander(cost me $150.00 15 years ago) 1/4" or 3/8" hoses do not give enough volume. Every sander has it's own"balance point" and this one is no exception. The hose is a bit stiff but. Once you get used to it, you'll never use another one. NOTE: The sanding belt that is on it has never been used. But it is 10 years old. It is for display purposes only. Please replace it before using.

Welcome to my auction. I deal in Vintage Porter-Cable hand held power tools. And only sell only the finest examples of their type. I believe they were the best and most innovative hand power tools ever made, and I love bringing them back to life for others to use and admire. I sell at a fair price, and my descriptions are very accurate. This listing is for one Vintage Porter-Cable 3" x 24" 9amp model A3 Take- About hand held belt sander. The tool you see in the photos is the tool you will get. Look at the photos carefully. There is much detail to see. This sander. Known by some as the"Locomotive Style" is a classic workhorse and was built in Syracuse, NY. It has no issues and runs perfectly. There is full power and very little sparking at the brushes. It has a new Porter-Cable grounded power cord and a new cork and metal ... moreplaten. The front wheel needle bearings were cleaned and greased. The oil was changed and filled to the proper level. It's chain drive was cleaned and re-greased. The switch clicks right on and can stay on with the press of a button. The belt tracking is smooth and effortless. The inner belt wear bar shows little use. The drive wheel is smooth and clean. No broken or dented parts on the frame. Comes with a new tube of Porter-Cable special purpose grease. The balance and weight of these sanders is perfect. Clearly the nicest hand held belt sanders ever built. Sadly these are no longer made because they just became too expensive to produce, and they lasted too long. Made in the day when you repaired your tools instead of throwing them away. You are bidding on this Porter-Cable belt sander you see pictured here. I have never seen a vintage power tool of this age in such great condition. The dust bag. The power cord, the switch are 100% original and aside from obvious usage there are no major defects. The dust bag is an excellent example of how well this tool was cared for; typically you'd see it duct-taped because of holes and the power cord either replaced or it having been chewed up or deteriorating from age. There is one minor flaw with the air intake screen on the right side- it looks like something raked against it and stretched it a bit. It makes no difference whether you're a tool collector. Vintage Sterling Model 1000 Sander Before Porter Cable Speedmatic
Original Sterling model 1000 from the 1940's or so before Porter Cable bought them and changed the name to a Porter Cable Speedmatic. Runs good.Looks good. It had coarse sandpaper on it when I found it at an estate sale and I sanded some with it and it does a nice job. I couldn't figure out how to remove the sandpaper so just tore it off so i could show the condition of the pad. Power cord has a little bit of age cracking but not bad. Switch works good and it really vibrates nice. It is heavy enough that the sander does the work. This is a vintage Porter Cable 500G2 Locomotive Style 4" belt sander. This sander is in good working condition. It runs strong and smooth. This sander should look nice if it is cleaned up and polished. The only thing I see wrong with this is that the front knob or round handle has been cracked and glued back together.

Rockwell-Porter Cable Model 205-505 Finishing Sander
Up for sale is a used Rockwell Model 205 Finishing Sander. This sander evolved into what most people know as the Porter Cable Model 505 Sander. This is a 1/2 sheet sander that runs at 10.000 OPM or Orbits per minute. The sander is in excellent condition. The Cord has just been replaced because the original cord was cracking because the rubber was getting brittle. While replacing the cord I checked The Brushes and they are in fine shape. One Photo shows the spring of the Brush Holder sticking out of the Housing. The brush in this photo is against the commutator so that amount of spring lets you know you have over 1/4" of brush travel before the brush is getting to short. The Felt pad also looks to be in very good condition. The paper clamps are strong and work as they should. The switch works fine. The Chrome Finish is not as bright as ... moreit once was but it still looks more classy than anything that is Available today. The only negative I find which may be common is when you turn the sander on there is a spot while it comes up to speed where there is a high amount of vibration. This also happens when you turn it off. This lasts less than a second. My thinking is this there is a RPM where there is some kind of Harmonic that causes the high vibration rate. Bearings are original. Porter Cable Model 7403 Variable Speed Painr Remover Sander +extra grinding disk
Porter Cable Model 7403 Variable Speed Paint Remover. This is a sander for clapboards. The tool works fine with no operating issues. The rubber disk backing plate is in good condition as is the electric cord and plug. I do not have the spanner wrench to remove the disks. I use a needle nose pliers and they work just fine removing and tightening the nut. Extra grinding disk included so you get a total of 2 disks. There is a small crack in the housing on top of the grinding disk. I have used this grinder and this crack has never given me any problems it does not currently effect the functioning of the tool at all. See last photo. Postage to the continental US only. Porter Cable BB10 Dustless Take-About 4" Belt Sander Locomotive
Motor sounds good and runs strong. The drive roller does spin like it should and the other roller is free. There is a chip out of the front handle and the wiring needs something done with it as the outer layer of insulation is really bad at places. It should be replaced but at the very least it needs lots of taping with electrical tape. It should also be oiled before you use it as it is straight from an estate. The dust bag has some holes in it. Switch works good. The dark spots you see are some hardened grease that needs cleaned off. The VS stands for variable speed which this model is not. The 343K means that this came with the hard case. The sander shows signs of typical use but it works properly.
