Please find an excellent condition rare vintage silver plated Holton-Clarke model A/Bb cornet with original good condition case. Extra slides, and 2 original excellent condition#27 and#30 Holton cornet mouthpieces. This instrument is truly a collectors item in that there are no missing pieces with this collection other than a main tuning slide stop rod that I am currently on the search for. It could easily be replaced by a non-original rod if one must. The serial number is 50068 dating its origin to approximately 1919 according to"hornucopia" website. The bell is 4.5" in diameter with a bore size measured at the 2nd valve slide at.450" The instrument is 15" long. The horn has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, chem cleaned, what few dings it had were removed, all new felts, water key corks and new valve springs. ... moreThe case has been sanitized, no odors. The original valve block case strap is missing but the horn stays put when placed in the valve block saddle. In my opinion this is possibly the best vintage cornet ever made. It has a very big sound for such a little fellow. The intonation is very good in all registers. Checked with a Korg digital tuner with setting at 440 in the Bb key only. Clarke, an 1840 West Point graduate, was a pre-war instructor at West Point, served in the 4th Artillery during the Seminole Wars and in the Civil War was Chief of Artillery for the II Corps, Army of the Potomac during the Peninsular and Antietam Campaigns. Harlem, Mont. and addressed to the" Bateman-Switzer Co. The letter measures about 8.5" x 7" The Bateman- Switzer Company was a wholesale dealer in wines. Liquors, cigars, bar glassware, and manufactured cider, soda, and ginger ale and was located at 206 Central Avenue in Great Falls, Mont. David Bateman was born 17 Sept. 1854 in Tennessee. He resided in Texas during his youth and later in Kansas. In 1881, he came to Three Forks, Mont. and then moved to the Helena area until Apr. 1890. He became a partner in the firm of Bateman& Switzer Co. of Great Falls, Mont. which in 1898 became Bateman-Switzer Company, and was organized with a capital stock of $50,000.
