For sale is a Clarke American Alto EZ-8 floor sander- this is probably one of Clarke's most popular and best-selling drum sanders. I've had it for a while but it hasn't been used much in the last 2 years hence the reason for selling it. It's pretty dusty from it's last use and from sitting around in a wood shop but it is in working condition. This is a 110v setup that we bought about 7 years ago when our company was starting to do some residential wood floor refinishing jobs. We used the equipment about 6 times. Clarke LV-8 Floor sander 8" drum
This is a working floor sander. I bought it off a friend and used it to refinish my bedroom floor. It works well. It is not as powerful as the newer units. The motor seems to struggle with the more coarse grit papers but it got the job done for me. Maybe it can be repowered with a newer motor. I would suggest a repower if you were going to use it commercially or you can just use it for parts. I no longer need this machine as my floor is done and I realize floor sanding is not for me. I think this stator is for the clarke DU 8 there are not really any marking numbers it was in a box of clarke sander parts it has dust all over the windings look good. also have a new armature that looks good so that should show the armature is new since it is clean.also there are du 8 parts in the box so I took measurements overall armature length is 11 1/4 and the windings area diameter is 3 inches front mounting plate is 6 1/4 with 6 holes but 2 of those are threaded they are in 2 sets of 3 on opposite sides The stator is 5 by 5 too big for my model b.Also selling clarke gearbox grease any question or help in identifying this appreciated.thanks

The metal"T" handle shows this is Clarke's most recent model. As the pictures show. The sander has very few scrapes or scratches. A small damaged area on the top of the black plastic dust housing has been well repaired with cloth-reinforced Permatex gasket compound, and will not affect the operation or life of the sander. The cord is in good condition. With minor scuffs and scrapes. The pad driver is in near-new condition, with at least 90% of its life remaining. The dust skirt is in good condition, with normal wear and tear. The dust bag and rubber base bumper are brand new. This sander has been refurbished. This means that all wear parts have been replaced(whether they appeared to need it or not) And this machine should have approximately the life of a new machine before these parts need replacement again. Rare American antique Clarke sander with wooden carrying box, early 20's, works
This auction is for a Clarke portable sander from the early 20's. It has been plugged in for testing. It works and sounds as though it should. It also comes with it's wooden box carrying case. This is a very rare and unique opportunity for someone to own the oldest sander on the block. Although this item is an"as is" condition auction. Arrangements can be be made for a cleaning prior to shipment for an additional charge. I didn't clean it knowing that some would prefer not to have the century of accumulated crud removed forever. It has been stored in it's box for years. It smells a bit as though a mouse or something made use of it at some point but I didn't find any evidence of such. I contacted Clarke directly by phone and emailed the technical department for information. I looked in our archives and I could ... morenot locate a match" was the response. It's certainly rare and I can not find another like it. This is a piece of American history that deserves to be displayed or worked. Necessity is the mother of invention" In 1916. An American by the name of Alex A. Clarke invented a machine much like the one you see here to stop the annoyance of roughing his elbows up at his local watering hole. He sanded the bar top and a demand for more followed which naturally grew to include school desks, floors and so on. The sander up for sale dates to just after he moved to Chicago in 1922 to oversee the manufacturing of his increasingly popular invention.
