Up for Auction is a Delta Rockwell Vintage 6"x 48" Belt Sander solid cast iron platen in very good condition. This platen is American made and has minimal wear for it's age. Most of the belts have been used. There are 5 new(120 grade) belts. The sander is engraved on the top"Property of Charles Coldsmith 466 Shippensburg. PA" The belt tensioner turns nicely. This is an original Porter Cable#503 belt sander in excellent condition. A classic! I found this sander at an estate sale here locally and learned it was owned by a cabinet maker who took exceptional care of his tools. This sander was stored on the shelf in a heated shop and it shows. It's in great shape. Everything is original on this sander. There is no type indicator on this tool, it is one of the very first models made before typing began. This sander starts quickly and immediately gets up to speed. The drive wheel is in fantastic shape with solid rubber that is not decayed or cracked. The front wheel is straight and there is no evidence of it having been dropped or abused. These sanders are heavy and are frequently dropped which breaks the handle or the front left wheel mount. Not this tool. I bought this Sander new approximately 12 years ago. I used it for personal home projects. I am not a contractor and it has not been heavily used. It works great. If I had to guess the sander has less 5 hours running time on it. Damage: 1. The cord got caught in the belt and plastic on the wires was sanded off. That now has electrical tape covering it(Picture shows this tape) 2. Dust collection tube that the bag attaches to is dented(Picture shows Dent) 3. Rubber/Plastic is becoming brittle where the cord enters the sander(Picture shows cracking) 4. Misc. scratches. The sander works great. But I just haven't used in many years, so its time to sell. I am including several pieces of sandpaper, but, while most of it is new, the sandpaper is several years old and the glue holding the belts together may no longer be good.
