Ludlum Model 3 Survey Meter Geiger Counter and 44-9 Pancake - Recent Calibration
For sale is a working Ludlum Model 3 Geiger counter. Which includes a working 44-9 probe, a BNC adapter to allow you to use Eberline or any other brand of probe including scintillation probes, and a large carrying case with shoulder strap. The meter itself is in pristine mechanical and electrical condition. With no corrosion whatsoever in the battery compartment(see pictures) and a very pretty circuit board. The paint around the meter window is a little bit chipped, I colored some of the missing chips in with sharpie. I also re-sealed the glass window of the probe with silicone, which provides a better seal against water intrusion into the meter mechanism. The calibration is approximately 9 months out of date, but that's not a huge problem especially for hobby users(as it is CPM only, and the last calibration hardly had to do anything ... moreto change it) I included the calibration sheet folded in the main compartment of the meter, as well as the sticker on the side. The 44-9 Geiger-Muller probe is a standard pancake GM tube mounted in a ruggedized handle. Besides a few dents in the mesh grille and some normal scratches. The probe is in perfect working condition. You can see a picture of the probe being used to test a sample of uranium ore in the pictures section(the sample of ore is not included in this auction) The BNC to C-type adapter is intended to be used with scintillation probes. But it can be used to adapt any type of BNC apparatus to the counter. I bought it here on eBay, it's roughly a $20 value. The case is an old videocamera case that I found that happens to fit the survey meter and its cord quite well. I have used it while prospecting to hold the meter over my shoulder. And the beeps of the counter can be heard relatively well through the case. Please ask any questions you may have!

7 X 111/2 X 1/2" scintillation plastic slab radiation detector scintillator
Large slab of 1/2" thick scintillation plastis 7"X111/2" Manufacturer and type not known but comparible to Saint Gobain BC-412. This plastic seems to be harder material not subject to crazing like other material I have worked with. Great scintillation properties for Beta Gamma it deos seem to be faster due to the harder plastic formula. This piece had a 11/2" crystal cut from it using a hole saw without center drill this piece is included. Can be stacked with other scintillation material like ZnsAg to make Alpha.Beta,Gamma scintillator. Weight is aprox 2lb 6oz.

2 working but damaged Alpha Spectra NAI(T1) scintillators with 2 1/4" dia. X 3" long crystals + 1 salvaged crystal and 1 smaller 11/2" dia. X 2 1/2" long crystal. The 2 working scintillators have some physical damage but work quite well with no light leakage in damaged areas. One shown without back cover which is included but not shown in photos. The larger crystal has slight damage to the face and still has attached glass from broken PMT also shows slight yellowing but salvageable and still able to work somewhat below par. The smaller crystal has no damage to the face and also has broken glass with slight yellowing to the crystal still usable. rare. Untested, vintage Orlokator by the nuleonic corporation of america. The Nucleonic Corporation of America was located at 497 Union Street in Brooklyn. New York in 1949. The company was founded by Dr. Benjamin Schloss. Dr Schloss was the chief of an instrument group at the Metallurgical Lab at the University of Chicago which had developed geiger counters for research on the atomic bomb project. The Uranium Ore-Lokator Model RM2N was introduced in 1954. It measures beta and gamma down to 0.02 mR/h(equivalent to 0.003% uranium) It has a 2.5” scale face with ranges from 0-500. 0-5000, and 0-50,000 cpm. Dosage is read in 0.25, 2.5 and 25 mR/h. These are two partial geiger counters for auction. The blue one is a Victoreen Nuclear Associates Beta Gamma Survey Meter. Model 05-700. The grey one is an Eberline Instrument Corporaton Geiger Counter, model E-530. They are missing the batteries, bodies and probes. What you see in the photos is what you get. No testing has been done on the parts. The potentiostats on the two counters do turn alright. Sold as is, untested. Shipping weight about 6 lbs.
