I haven't cleaned this piece, but it looks to be able to wash easily and bring back luster if one should so chose. An example of a'fire grenade' bottles such as this were originally filled with flame retardant chemicals. In the event a fire. The user would grab the bottle and'throw' it at the flames, glass breaking to extinguish the fire. Bottle appears to be mold blown. A nice example with no chips or cracks. Vintage Antique Eureka Fire Hose Mfg. Co. Brass & Copper Fire Extinguisher
This is an old copper and brass fire extinguisher made by Eureka Fire Hose Mfg. Co. It measures a little over 2' tall. I do not see any dents in the fire extinguisher itself. But there is a few on the plate(see pics) The acid bottle and stopper were still inside and are included. The hose is dried out and should be replaced. Bottom is intact with no holes.

In the shape of an old fire extinguisher a recipie for a Manhattan cocktail on a shield to the front a vintage cocktail shaker. It comes in three parts that fit nicely on each other. To the back(at the jug and the strainer part only) are embossed rivets. These are also along the bottom rim and to the shield. It has a nice weight to it. The shaker seems to have a white metal plate to it. At the front to the right between the shield and the handle area.see pic. After many years of success in the dairy supply business Orlando J. Childs became enamored with the chemical fire extinguisher. A revolutionary product invented by two local inventors. In late 1899 Childs organized the O.J. Childs Co. in order to take over the business of the Utica Fire Extinguisher Co. The manufacturer of the Utica chemical extinguisher, an early chemical fire extinguisher designed by William C. Pomfret and Thomas B. Keating. Originally filed on January 16, 1896, the device was awarded US Patent number 588,055 on August 10, 1897 and assigned to the Utica Fire Extinguisher Co. But not a single one made by W D Allen Mfg Co, Chicago, IL. as you can clearly see in the pics. The unit is EMPTY! The history of which is as follows: I got this from a friend of mine(born in 1950) who's grandfather owned it and had it around the house for what seems. A hundred years. He remembers playing with it when he was a child and pretending he was a firefighter! His grandfather was a retired tool& die maker for"Curtiss-Wright" which later became"North America Rockwell" corp. He tells the story: When my grandfather first came to America through"Ellis Island" sometime in the late 1800's he found work as a cab driver in New York. After many years searching for his place in the new world. ... moreHe then moved to the southern section of Ohio, where he purchased some land and began farming. which in those day's" was very hard work. With little pay. After the depression in the 30's after learning to get by on very little. He then drove up to Columbus to seek work. He had always taken interest in anything related to machining and found a job as a janitor at the Curtiss Plant. After attending an in house training on the techniques of the machine trades. He then applied for a position as a machinist and further his education in this field and went on to be a Tool& Die Machinist. The fire extinguisher was acquired at the plant when they eventually installed a more sophisticated fire system. He(Adolphus Bretz) later retired in the mid to late 50's! Note: He drove everyday to and from home and built his and my grandmother's home piece by piece until it was completed. And never once borrowed money to do it. During his retirement. He decided he wanted to drive a school bus for the local area, which my mother rode to school everyday.
