10 INCH STAINLESS SHIP BOAT DOCK CLEAT BOLLARD SAMPSON MOORING BIT CHOCK (#364)
This is slightly used stainless steel cleat we found at a local boat salvage. I dont think its ever been used because there is no wear on it. Looks like it was laying around somewhere but we are selling it as used because of a few scratches. This cleat is 9+7/8 inches long. 2+1/2 inches tall and 2+1/4 inches at the widest point. The studs are 3/8 inch diameter and 2+1/4 inch long. These cleats are used for tying off large boats and ships. This cleat has a few scratches that could most likely be polished out. Two Vintage Square Stainless Steel Bollard Mooring Bitts These Are A Couple Of Rare Boat Mooring Cleats the only ones on eBay They weigh about 2 lbs each. They are just about 3- 1/2" high and it is 4" square at the base with four 5/16" countersunk holes on the corners. The post square is 1-3/4" with a 5/16" round solid stainless pin running through it. These bitts do have a little patina on them. But they are stainless steel so I believe they can be polished to a mirror shine on a buffer wheel. Fasten these heavy duty stainless steel bitts down with stainless bolts on your private dock. And they will never rust, and your precious boat will stay put. This item was removed from a 1943 military whaleboat. I do not know if it was original equipment or not. I was as careful as I could be getting them off and saving the brass screws that held them. The screws are not perfect but are very good and will work to attach them to your classic and retain the correct look. They have a nice patina on them or you can polish them up as you like. Antique Mahogany Bit Cleat Bollard Boat Ship Yacht Dock Rustic Nautical Decor
This is an old mahogany ship's bollard. Or bit. It was mounted on the bow and used to tie off to a dock or to secure an anchor line to. It came from an old barn at a New England estate. I have no idea what boat it may have been removed from years ago. It is pretty big, and stands just under 10" tall. It is about 6" across. It has a solid bronze bar passing through it that is about 12" long and about 1" thick. It has two iron brackets mounted with bronze screws mounted on opposing sides. It is made out of mahogany and appears to have old varnish on it. It is fairly heavy, and weighs close to 20 lbs or so. The bottle of Corona is in the last picture only to show size scale, and is obviously not part of the listing. It is in weathered, aged condition. It is pretty much"as found" except that the iron has been ... morebrushed and oiled and the bronze screws have been cleaned. The finish on the wood has just had a light wipe down with linseed oil. It is a simply stunning piece of old nautical hardware that would enhance and room or bar with a nautical theme. It is more a work of art or sculpture than a piece of hardware.
