I'm unable to test the Dosimeter as there are no nearby sources of fallout radiation. Victoreen Civil Defense Survey Meter CDV-715 Geiger Counter Model 1
This is a CDV-715 Geiger counter from the 1960's. The inside and outside of the unit are in fantastic shape except for a missing knob. The instruction and maintenance manual and the original box are also included but are in fair to poor shape. I did not test the unit but assume it works. It was sitting in storage for 40 years in the box with no battery inside. The instruction and maintenance manual indicate it is from Lionel Electronic Laboratories 1961-62. On the front of the manual it shows a picture of a shoulder strap which is not included with the unit. There was a small yellow rope in the box. I am not sure if it goes with the unit but I will send it anyway. I have an eBay rating of 2000+ thus you can be confident that the item is described accurately and the shipping will be FAST!

1950's - 1960's Civil Defense School Kit, Geiger Counters & Wood Shipping Case
During the late 50's to early 60's. These must have been issued to schools across the country by the thousands. As the Cold War wound down, CD supplies went to the dump or simply lanquished in storage somewhere. This kit contains the original counters but none of the packing; there is also a single-ear headset with haze rust on the headband for use with the counter with the geiger tube mounted on the handle. Battery compartments are in good shape, no corrosion or chemicals from any leads but operating condition is otherwise unknown. For sale is a vintage Civil Defense radiological survey meter V 720#3. There is a spot on the top paint that has been damaged. There is an instruction and maintenance manual with it. The manual has water damage and age from lying in the bottom of the box. The counter has a card inside saying calibrated Jul 15 1965. It is packed in the original box that looks like the card board top has been cut off and is placed in a plywood box. The plywood box top is coming apart on the lid back. The Model RM2 GM survey meter was produced by the Nucleonic Company of America of Brooklyn New York. A plate on the end of the case indicates that it was manufactured December 1953. The plate also refers to"RADIAC SET" which suggests. Along with the indicated Contract Number, that it was produced for the military. Despite this. I have not been able to find any indication in the literature that the RM2 was actually used by the military. In fact, I have not been able to find any references to the RM2 period. The closest is the following description(1954) of the RM2N, also known as the"Ore-Lokator: The NCA Ore-Lokator's many unique features include A patent pending means of checking accuracy of meter reading which makes ... morethis the only really reliable and accurate survey instrument. For sale is a tested and working Boron-10 lined neutron detector tube. Manufactured in Schenectady, NY by General Electric. These tubes are designed to operate in the proportional region at 550-800V, and detect thermal neutrons via(n, alpha) reactions that occur within the internal B-10 liner. They can be used directly with any portable survey meter or NIM setup where the lower level discriminator can be set to 2mV. This tube's operation has been verified with a neutron source and is guaranteed to work! These detectors are fairly sensitive due to their large size. And have a low background rate once gammas are rejected. They will detect neutrons from sources like Cf-252, AmBe, D-D, and similar reactions, even at very low emission rates. I know nothing about the operation of this item-it has 4 Everyready batteries inside which would need replacement for operation-2 different kinds-large ones that I am unfamiliar with-no corrosion to batteries or connections. The front panel has a label stating that it had a calibration test in 1970. Cosmetically, it appears to be in fairly good condition. Since it is untested. I am selling it"AS IS"no returns. Nothing obstructing the screen. Other than that, the device is perfect. You can charge it by USB mini(adapter included) and then leave it on a table top. Come back in five minutes and you will have an accurate reading of the CPM. I bought this because of Fukushima, but it seems that radiation levels haven't increased here in Colorado, so I am selling it. I may buy a cheaper one to replace it, but I don't need something this sophisticated for occasionally testing food. The USB cable and USB charger are included along with the unit.
