small Victor combination lock floor safe 1800s on wheels
Cute little Victor combination lock safe with excellent working 4 number combination. These little victor safes had only a combination dial that acted as both the combination tumbler and the bolt operation for access to opening the door. This little guy has wooden shelves inside of it and little wooden finials on top of the hinges. It is 29 inches tall and 18 inches length and width. I can only guess that it weighs about 200? pounds but rolls on its wheels relatively easily. It takes up little room and makes it very hard for a would be burglar to make off with it. I have for sale here is a Diebold safe& lock co. safe for sale. The safe came out of a very old bank. As you look at all the pictures. You can see it has the paintings on it. I did not do any type of cleaning on it for the pictures, because I want it to look exactly as the way it will look when you pick it up. I had a locksmith look at it to see if he could fix the tumbler and get the combination for it. He said he could fix it for $250.00, I decided not to have him do it for the simple reason, I figured who buys it can do the same thing. As seen in pictures, there are two knobs broke off, but are still in the safe. The small door inside is also laying in bottom of safe also as seen in picture. Antique Charles E. Kershaw Safe with Patented Two-Piece Lock and Key I have posted a couple of more pictures- one of the broken wheel and one of the broken piece of ribbon held in place with duct tape. Also. I should note that several screws broke or were stripped when I disassembled the safe. Many of the screws now holding it together are new. And the back and bottom did not have paint. They had a thin layer of light rust. I cleaned the rust off and spray painted the outsides black. The box itself is about 28" high by 28" long by 22" deep. It weighs at least 300 lbs. I had a new key made and the lock has been cleaned and greased. All the pieces are present. There are two small pieces of trim that are broken(tape over part of the ribbon Pic 7) One of four wheels is detached. The plate that holds it on is broken where the screws ... moreattached it to the box. It is on the floor in Pic 7. The trim on the top indicates it is for installation under a counter or desk. See the last couple of pics- some paint removed and interior velvet partially restored. If you would like more information please ask. Charles E. Kershaw and his brother Robert Kershaw only built safes for a few years during the 1850's. As safe makers, though they also had other affiliations. They manufactured"Kershaw Powder Proof Locks" which were used by Denio& Roberts during the late 1850's through the mid 1860's. Charles Kershaw was associated with Oliver Edwards and J. Fernald in the manufacture of safes under several different names. The first being the Union Safe& Lock Factory. Established in Boston around 1838. Edwards, Fernald& Kershaw around 1852-1857. I believe that this cast iron safe coin bank was made by the Kenton Hardware Company and will guarantee that it is and old bank. It has raised relief lettering on the iron opening door that say's: National Safe" along with a star. The top and bottom are also cast iron with the top having a raised relief design and a coin slot. The sides and back are steel with a raised relief flower pot design stamped into each side. The lock works and the combination is counter clockwise 7. Clockwise 4. Here is an interesting fairly shallow antique or vintage metal safety deposit box which is about 21 1/2 X 5 1/4 X 1 7/8 inches. This has some general wear and scratches throughout. This has wider handle on one end and more of single loop on the other end. Only opens from the one end as far as I can tell. I think someone could find a creative use for it. In fact. I thought about keeping it to put smaller items in it or papers and put on top of something or in file cabinet, but I think someone will appreciate this more. This would be a fascinating item for someone. I don't really see a key hole or anything so I guess I don't if these had a tiny lock on it or what, not really sure. Yale Vault Safe Timelock Time Lock - Vintage - Locksmith
Up for sale is a Yale Timelock Assembly that was removed from an old Mosler safe. Only one timelock movement is there and appears to be complete. It is unknown whether the movement is working. The safe was out of commission for a long period of time indoors before the timelock was removed. Dimensions: 4 3/8in x 3 5/8in x 2 1/4in. No key is included to open. Running Mosler Recta 2 Movement Time Delay Safe Lock time lock steampunk do all
Mosler Recta 2 Movement Mechanical"Do All" Time Lock This is a nice Mosler 2 movement"Do All" mechanical time lock mechanism. In good running order. This is a hard to find model of time lock, which contains two movements in a heavy billet of machined steel and brass. This would be used in a safe or bank vault, to foil robberies by preventing the vault door from being opened until a specified amount of time has passed. Typically two or three movements would be installed in a time delay lock to prevent accidental lockout, even if one movement failed the other movements could still unlock the vault door on time. The mechanism of this lock is a pair of Recta 17 jewel pocketwatch movements as shown in the photo. I have removed the back cover of the mechanism to show the movement. This movement is different from a normal pocketwatch ... moremovement in that the mainspring is not installed within its circumference. Instead a gear mates with a'huge' mainspring installed within the heavy machined metal casing. This large mainspring provides the force necessary to release the bolt on the safe. Also note the clicks on the winding arbor, which are shown removed in the photo above next to the movement. Unlike a normal Mosler timelock movement that only has two clicks, the winding arbor in this movement has six clicks, which allows the lock to be set for much smaller intervals of time than would normally be possible. The movements were manufactured in this way because the"Do All" lock mechanism is designed to function both as a time lock and a short-duration'timbination' style lock that could be set to run for as little as 15 minutes. The movements have porcelain 120 hour dials and a pair of glass windows that allows the balance wheels to be viewed while protecting the mechanism from dust. A good item for the timepiece collector or steampunk artist who wants to add some running clockwork to their next project. Movements such as this are used in time delay locks for safes and bank vaults. Which foil robberies by preventing the vault door from being opened until a specified amount of time has passed. This is a Vintage Blue Durham Insurance Policy Steel Combination Mutual Life Lock Box Safe. Very good shape with sme signs of scuffing/wear. I have personally owned one of these for some 30 years and I recommend it! it's not a fire safe. So it won't protect anything from a fire though. The didgets to open the safe is 077, but you can program it to whatever you wish it to be with the switch that you see in the last image. It's about 11.5 x 5.5 x 3.5 including the lid. The inside bottom is about 2-3/4 inches deep, and the inside lid is about 3/4 on the inside. Has a handle on the side. I don't know how old it is, probably 50 or so years or more?
