Here is a Buckingham 2501 portable retractable lifeline device. The lifeline device has a 50 foot retractable cable. The device was manufactured in December of 2007 and it needed to be tested by March of 2011. I recently purchased this device and hung it from a hook and it does lock when the cable is out and a quick"fall like" event happens to the line. I can guarantee that that part works. I do not know when this device was tested last. So the device is being sold as appears working but untested by the proper certified people. Take a look at the photos.
