FINEST WORKING ANTIQUE GAMEWELL FIRE ALARM LOCATION RECORDER RARE & HARD TO FIND
ANTIQUE GAMEWELL FIRE ALARM LOCATION RECORDER This Fire Alarm Location Recorder was made by The Gamewell Company. In Newton Mass. The nameplate is engraved with two patent dates, 1899& 1902. It is also engraved No. 965. I restored this approx. twenty(20) years ago and put it on the wood base. It is a great display& conversation piece. This type of recorder would have been located in the Fire Department's Central Fire Alarm Center. When a Fire Alarm Box was activated(pulled) it would send out a code to the Alarm Center which would activate this recorder. the paper on the reel would feed through the recorder and a code would be punched into the paper. The Firemen would ascertain the location of the alarm by matching the code punched into the paper with one in their book of codes. Under the nameplate is a black round cover that houses ... morethe pin that would punch the code into the paper. The indentation at the bottom of the black base would have had a small round cylinder to catch the paper as it was punched out. Unfortunately, I do not have that piece. Overall(including the base) it is measures approx. 9 inches long by 5-3/4 inches wide by 10 inches to the top of the reel. It is very heavy weighing in at approx. 15 pounds. It is made mostly of brass and very nice thick beveled glass. It does wind up and the interior gears turn. You can only get the gears to move by removing the glass and pushing the right release to set the gears in motion. I have has this recorder for over twenty years and it is time for someone else to own it and enjoy it. You will have to look long and hard to find a finer example than this one. This a vintage Gamewell Threefold Fire Alarm Box. As you can see the box does not have the guts but the box itself is in really great shape. It has some scraps and paint chips but overall it is very displayable shape. The box stands 16-1/4" tall and it is 12-1/2" wide at the widest point. Antique wireless telegraph fire alarm relay made by T.E. Clark. Looks like some others that I have seen on Ebay that are made by Gamewell. I have no idea if this is a accurate description or not. I have just seen some that look like this and that is what they described it as. The T. E. Clark company was in in Detroit. I do not know how this things works so I can not tell you that it does. It seems complete and has no damage other than two of the corners of the glass are chipped. It is a wind up but I do not have a key. I did give it a turn with a wrench and the spring has tension on it.

1880s Cast Iron Gamewell Telegraph Fire Alarm Box With Telegraph Keys& Clockworks Interior This is a vintage Gamewell Telegraph Fire Alarm Fire Box with Telegraph key and clockwork mechanism inside. It measures about 17 by 10.5 by 6 inches. It is quite heavy. Weighing about 70 lbs with packing materials. The case in in good condition, no cracks, chips or any other major defects, except the top finial or whatever was, is missing. The insides appear complete, with telegraph stuff, bell and clock, including both outside and winding keys. The glass on the clock mechanism is chipped. See photo.Also the sight glass on the pull down handle is cracked. I can wind it up and all mechcanisms work perfectly. I didn't hook it up to a power scorce for ringing the bell. The glass. 3. The key. 4. the red light unit. I had a locksmith open it to see what was inside! Vintage Art Deco Gamewell Fire Alarm Pull Station Box complete. It has a patent date on the pull handle of January 1. 1924, which dates this box between 1924-1941. Overall the box is in very nice condition. It comes with a key and the lock works perfectly fine. Interior mechanisms are fully functional and most likely would work if you were to get wires for powering it. The glass on the pull lever is NOT cracked and in good shape. The lever works great and it makes the ticking noise that it needs to. Some very light white-ish paint splatter on the top. And it looks like someone painted over the letters on the pull handle. The stripes on the side are kind of worn but not in too bad of shape. May need a further cleaning and if you wanted to paint it you could. The only real condition issue is on the back where a piece is broken from being removed(see ... morepic) but that shouldn't really matter if displayed against a wall. This is a very nice piece for any collection or even just as a conversation piece.
