For sale is a Badger-Powhatan. Stainless steel, 2.5 gallon, Type A, water rechargeable fire extinguisher. I remember purchasing this at a garage sale in the early 1970's. Aside from being a little dusty, it is in excellent condition. The seals still work fine because I recently discharged it after it had been filled for at least 10 years and it was still fully functional. It can easily be recharged with a standard air compressor.

All internal parts are included. However the inner tube is rotted out on the bottom. Also the safety valve on the top is not attached, I cannot tell if it is supposed to be soldered in or screwed in. VINTAGE AMERICAN LaFRANCE No. 6 BRASS FIRE EXTINGUISHER WITH MOUNITNG BRACKET
This is an empty 1 qt. brass fire extinguisher made by the American LaFrance Foamite Corp. of Elmira. NY and it is the No. 6 model. It is about 13 1/3" long and comes with it's mounting bracket which has a new coat ob black paint. This has been polished and lacquered. it has one dent at the base and this can be seen in the pictures. It has some small dings and scratches but as you can see in the pictures, it displays very well. The brass label retains most of it's original paint. Graphics are all bright and intact and glasses have no wear, chips, cracks, scratches, etc. There are no manufacturer's marks on the box or glasses, but I would guess the age to be 1970s.

Item description: Very scarce piece of fire fighting memorabilia. Solid brass thick retaining ring plate with a small drain spout and inlet for a check valve and air inlet fitting. The inlet fitting is hand tooled for the barb area and looks like its been whittled. Threaded into the inlet is a solid brass pneumatic check valve that pops open when enough PSI is applied. The thick face plate ring described above holds a large rubber piece with 2 holes running the entire length. One hole is for the air inlet and the other is an out to the downspout. The retaining ring and rubber piece ... moreare held together tight by a double handled solid brass female threaded ring that is embossed with CHICAGO FIRE APPARATUS CO CHICAGO ILL. The thick face plate retaining ring piece is embossed PAT. PEND. Overall length with check valve is 6 1/2" Handle tip to handle tip is 5 1/2" Tapered rubber cone large dia of 2 1/4" Approximate diameter of 1/2" on the two rubber through holes. I have tried researching this company and can find no information newer than 1912 and as old as the 1880's. I assume this piece falls in that range somewhere and items of this age are pretty hard to come by. I do not know the exact purpose or function of this piece. My best guess is air is supplied through the inlet fitting and it travels through the rubber piece to the inside of some piece of equipment. The air then escapes and brings any interior chemical soda acid. Antique Shur Spray 1 Gallon Glass Fire Extinguisher
This auction is for a one gallon glass fire extinguisher manufactured by the International Fire equipment Corporation of Staten Island NY. It was called the Shur-Spray. When filled with a chemical. These were hung in various locations, probably high, near the ceiling. This appears to have a lead link on top that would have melted in high heat conditions allowing the chemical to extinguish the fire. This piece is dirty but in otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks. A small section of the original label is missing. It has metal bands around it for hanging purposes. It is approximately 17" long and 5 1/2" in diameter.

I don’t know when it was serviced last. The extinguisher tips the scale at 10.5 lbs and is about 18 inches tall x 3.5 inches diameter. Pretty cool nozzle and hose attachment with a very interesting pull knob on the top. The lettering on the Silver portion of the extinguisher is somewhat legible.
