This is an empty vintage brass fire extinguisher made by the Fyr-Fyter Co. of Dayton. Ohio and it is the 1 1/2 qt. Super Model. That's how the label reads. It is about 18" long and comes with it's mounting bracket which has a new coat of black paint. This extinguisher has great graphic's on the label which shows a young boy wearing a fireman's helmet and saluting while holding a Fyr-Fyter extinguisher. The label also has patent dates that range from 1918 to 1924. The label retains nearly all of it's original paint. The extinguisher has been polished and lacquered and displays very well. The T handle moves in and out as designed but does have a slight bent to the right. It has just one dent on the lower backside. Up for auction is a used antique Red Comet. The original Automatic Fire Extinguisher Glass Grenade metal bracket. It weighs.45 lb, is 9" tall and has a 3 1/2" diameter. This old painted metal bracket is in good used condition. I just removed it from the basement of a house built in the 1890's. The lead and brass sensor in the bottom is no longer attached. There is some paint chipped off at the hanger at the top. The back hanger of the bracket is bent backwards and could be bent back upright. Buyer pays $4.12 for 1st class mail. Vintage Hanging Red Comet Fire Grenade Extinguisher Sprinkler Holder Bracket
Empty RED COMET SAFETY SPRAY AUTOMATIC FIRE EXTINGUISHER-Ceiling Mount Holder Bracket. This item does not come with the glass grenade but will accept many brands and some size variations of them. This holder hung from the ceiling and when the fire got hot enough to melt the lead alloy holding the two brass tabs together near it's bottom. They tabs would release and a powerful spring would drive a metal pin into the glass and break the grenade and the fluid would come out of the sprinkler holes in the sides. I have had the tabs let go with time and I recommend placing a small cotter pin across the tabs because the springs in these holders are powerful! Measures about 9" long with a nice label. 4-5/8" across. Opens into two pieces. This holder once held a Red Comet containing CM-7. If you are collector of grenades I recommend ... morehanging this one empty and saving the glass portion for the visible mount type brackets. This Holder twists open to replace the grenade. Great display item with some light scuffs and scratches from normal use. Word of caution about all the people selling Red Comets that they claim are water filled. I've collected them for many years and have accidentally broken and actually even used some and I can assure you they all contain chemicals other than water or salt water. I store my spare Red Comets outdoors in a barn located in Northern MN and the temps get down to 35 below zero and they have never frozen nor has even one grain of salt crystallized with time. They typically contain either Azeotropic Chlormethanes or Carbon Tetra Chloride(most common) I collect them. Here is a true barn find. I took this off the post of a local barn at an estate sale. It is made by General Fire Extinguisher Co. It appears to be made out of brass and factory painted red. The label is there but not readable. It is empty and comes with the wall bracket. It is scratched and there is paint wear I think it has a great patina. This is an antique fire extinguisher that was made by the General Detroit corp of Detroit Mi. This model is# 85 and was made between 1941-43. It has visible patina and wear from age and the bracket.Which looks original,seems to have been painted. It is 14' long and 3' in diameter. and weighs 4 lb. Kidde UB-10 366242 Heavy Duty Mobile Marine 10lb fire extinguisher mount bracket
This is a used fire extinguisher mounting bracket for 10lb fire extinguisher. This is a Kidde 366242. I believe these are manufactured for the boat industry. But you could use it on anything. This bracket is in used condition but it shows signs of very little use in my opinion. The only concern I have with it is that the latch on the right side of the bracket is floppy, but I don't think anything is wrong with it, I believe that is just the way it is made. This bracket is complete with the latch pin that is chained to the latch. This would be great to mount on an old service truck. Tractor, dozer or something similar.
