The Oscilloscope software starts but never finishes loading. It hangs at the DSO8000 splash screen. And even after tens of minutes of sitting nothing else happens. Using our mouse and keyboard plugged into the back of the unit, we were able to close the DSO software and navigate in Windows, but when we re-started the DSO software it never completed loading the scope. It gave an error about a file on a networked drive(which we are not able to access with the scope sitting alone on our test bench) The screen is DIM and a little hard to see in bright ambient lighting. But with good color. The touch screen input works. We are not sure what might be wrong with this unit. No other testing was done. No manuals, cords/cables, or additional items are included if not listed or shown. Tektronix TDS540A 500 MHz 4-Channel Digitizing Oscilloscope TDS 540A
Scope is in pretty decent condition. The high voltage supply for the CRT is in need of repair so it has been disconnected. I connected the VGA output on the back of this unit to my TV to perform tests and collect the above images. I have tested all 4 of the attenuators against the internal reference as well as the buttons on the control panel and it appears fully functional as long as it is attached to an external video source. You can also purchase a LCD kit to replace the outdated CRT assembly and have a self contained scope. Thanks for looking!

This is the scope I used for night/weekend consulting for a few years ending about four years ago. I no longer consult. So I'm ready to part with this trusty scope. It has all the features of a four channel scope you would expect. Condition wise it is in perfect shape with no scratches or blemishes. The knobs/encoders are still'clicky' like a brand new unit. There couldn't be more than 100-200hrs of time on it as I didn't use it regularly at all even in the consulting environment. Unit comes with four standard probes with color-coated markings which make it easy to match the on-screen color to the probe in your hand. I don't have the original box. But shipping will be done right with plenty of bubble-wrap for protection. I bought this unit with the optional'communications' module which gives you a memory card ... moreand parallel/serial ports for programming/control as well as taking screen shots for sharing or publishing what you see.
