1949 Quaker State Motor Oil Metal Vertical Dealer Garage Sign
This is an ACTUAL. ORIGINAL. Quaker State motor Oil Sign. Unlike the flood of Mancave Junk that has flooded ebay) it was manufactured by Allen Morrison Sign company in Lynchburg VA in 1949. It has a Vertical Orientation and measures: 12" X 72" As far as condition goes. Its not pristine. Its very displayable and FAR from a basket case. The sign is embossed and the paint seems to be gone from some of the high spots. I'll do my best to show this in my photos. There is also a place where it was bent at one point across its center.The funny thing is that this was found inside in a box with 2 other signs. The box was between 2 floor joists in a basement ceiling and none of the signs had EVER been put up. My main theories are:1- the paint did not adhere well to the galvanized metal. 2- Vibration from cars going down the street for ... more60+ years just rubbed the paint off, or 3- BOTH. The paint still present seems very stable though and I do not see any rust. I still give this sign an 8 on a 10 scale. Its a very displayable piece. R.J.
