Bodine ¼ hp 5000 rpm AC Motor & Speed Controller
The motor runs great. It has had very little use. 115 Vac. 3.5 Amps, 5000 rpm. Compact size at about 7” x 4-1/2” The Crystalite speed controller is possessed. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not work. I took it apart and soldered some connections. Which did not change its behavior. Naturally I am selling the controller as-is. Bodine 115V Motor Reduction 288:1. OK you want to add motion to a large item on that train layout. Like a Ferris wheel. Track turn table, or other big item? Oh it needs to have decent torque to do that! Well this Bodine motor might just be it. Yes it is 115V with a cord and is plug and play. The 5000 rpm is reduced by 288:1 so shaft speed is approx 17.36 rpm. Or about 1 revolution every 4 seconds. With that reduction of 288 to 1 that increases torque a lot. ALSO! It is a brush type motor so it could be put on a speed control to set desired speed. The shaft is a generous 1" long by 5/16" that would be easy to hook up to. Yes the cord ain't pretty. And could redone. HEY it runs just fine and I did test it. This type motor is very expensive new(search Bodine motor) and you will agree my price is very reasonable. Do not load slow shaft beyond safe Torque 4.0 in lbs RPM 43-53 Ratio 30 The motor works when plugged in. But beyond that I have not done any other testing. The cord is a bit frayed where it meets the actual motor(look at the picture) but it does work in it's current state. You may want to replace the cord, but I'll leave that up to you. The motor is used and is oily/dirty and I'll leave it up to the buyer if they want to clean it or not. Aside from the cord I see no real issues with the motor. Any questions. Please ask. Thanks!
