Which has the correct suction carburetor ... moreand the deep oil pan, making it suitable to be used and re installed on some vintage lawn mowers of the late'40s to late'50s. The 6digit serial number puts it around 1951. As you can see from the pictures. It is nice, clean example, what I would call an older restoration. The engine case. Oil pan, cylinder head.was apart, beat blasted, painted and re assembled. Gaskets have been replaced and points and condenser checked. Cleaned and/or replaced. The flywheel shroud is nice and clean(painted red) and has the grass catcher screen in it as well(many are lost throughout the years) This is a rope start model. The 5S came optional with kick start lever, hand crank lever or recoil start. The tank is undented but shows some minor surface rust on the inside. It does have the correct oil bath air cleaner, which is in very nice condition. This particular I have not had running in the recent past, but it does have a nice spark, so with the usual preparation(fresh clean fuel and some mystery oil) it should run. I would prefer that the buyer picks up the engine(that will also be the time you pay for it) Although the engine is not the heaviest, packing it in a way that it will survive various handlers and truck rides will require sturdy boxes and proper(aka expensive) packing material. I shipped engines before. But be aware that it is not unusual to have a 35-45 price tag on top of the actual purchase price. But please ask for shipping and payment options. If you feel inclined to utilize some of the cheap shipping sites(i.e. Uship) Feel free to request a quote from some of the transporters listed on their website. Basically if you find a guy with a pickup truck who is heading in your direction, they can carry it with minimal packing. Here is an original 1926 Joseph Reid Gas Engines Gompany list of parts book. This is a good sized book with 96 numbered pages with illustrations. It is complete and in good condition inside. The front cover has a water stain on left bottom corner that goes into the first 25 pages or so but gets faint and really is not bothersome at all. Otherwise the covers show modest small stains and wear but are essentially in very nice shape. The forward reads. In this book will be found a complete list of parts of Reid two cycle gas engines and Reid Pumping Powers. Witte Model B oil well engine not hit miss
For sale is a Witte model B 10 HP oil field pump jack engine. It is set up to run on well head gas. Easy conversion to propane. Clutch works as it should. There are no breaks or welds on this engine. It has been kept inside since removed from the well. All I did was clean the points, prime it with gasoline and it started on the first turn after sitting 10 years. It carries great oil pressure, no knocks or smoke and is very smooth running, sits still on the skids at all RPMs. I have not tried to run it on natural gas or propane but see no reason why it would not work as it should. I do not have a starting crank handle. I will not ship this item. We can load it with a forklift. Please read the terms carefully. They are not complicated. This item must be picked up. I will not ship it. It also must be paid for at time of pick up and within 7 ... moredays of end of auction unless you have made other arrangements prior to bidding. This auction is for an early Wm. POWELL Lubricating and Oiling Specialties for Gas. Gasoline and Oil Engines sales catalog. It has 14 pages and has some nice illustrations of oilers priming cups, drain cocks, rod oilers and other items. It measures approx. 7 3/4" X 5 3/4" and is in nice condsition, but does have a fold crease across the center. I would guess this is from before 1910 by looking at the engine on the cover.
