EW Edwards Weber "Special," 9' 3/2--almost original mint condition.
EW Edwards Weber Special. 9' 3/2 Excellent+ condition. The Webers have always been my favorite Edwards' trade rods. And were certainly the finest trade rods that he made. This Special was manufactured by Eustis at the Mt Carmel shop circa 1927-28(see detailed analysis in Garner's Playing With Fire. Pages 150-156) The rod is in almost mint condition. I acquired it from Dana Gray about 5 years ago. He noted that he had refinished one wrap on one of the ferrules(I cannot tell Dana's re-wrap from the originals-no surprise. Of course) Otherwise, the rod appears original. The tube, bag and cap are all original. The owner(I suspect the original owner) even kept the bag inside a slightly larger bag for protection. That larger bag(the lighter, pin-striped bag in the photos) is included. Details? I rate the rod as a 6 weight. Although ... moreit casts a 5 with aplomb. Action is medium fast and smooth. Note that one of the tip sections is an Edwards-made replacement tip(see photos) which would have come from Edwards' shop in CT that sold what were described in the Weber catalogs as replacement"top sections. It has the correct Edwards guides, wraps and ferrules and appears to have slightly less tempering than the other section. That said, the overall rod is nicely tempered, wraps are excellent(gold/pongee and purple) ferrules welted and the cane without nicks, bag marks, alligatoring or other damage. This rod has tight red wraps, aluminum ferrules and a shiny gloss finish. The ferrules fit together tightly and come apart with a soft"pop" The lock nut for the reel is conical and fits over the front of the reel mount. All sections have a slight set, but nothing that is excessive or abnormal. The sock and tube are not marked and may not be original. Grip, cane varnish, wraps, ferrules-all are mint-and this for a rod that was built by Eustis in the peak of his Mt Carmel work. The only downside? Two tip sections, although both Edwards tips, are not perfectly matched. But read on. The Webers were the finest trade rods that came from Eustis' Mt Carmel shop. This Special was made circa 1928(see detailed analysis in Playing With Fire( Patrick Garner) Pages 150-156) These were'no compromise' custom rods that used the finest components w/o exception. Mark Edwards full size Violin
This is a Mark Edwards Full size(4/4) violin. It was hand crafted by Mark Edwards in Kentucky in June of 1995 and then later distributed by the J.R Music Supply Company. It has a semi-glossy finish. Fine tuners, and comes with a bow, Vivo shoulder rest, and a case. There are some light scruffs on the edges and top of the violin. We have had this violin for about 11 yrs. It hasn't been played in a while, and may need a tune-up, but it is in great condition and has aged well.

Fantastic ESTATE SALE FIND. This is a VINTAGE EDWARDS Fly Rod"Mt. Carmel. I have taken several photos. The bottom section measures 38 5/8. The middle section measures 38 1/2. The top section measures 32 7/8. The total length is 109 1/4. There is a 3" space for attaching the reel foot. The handle above the reel area measures 5 3/4. It is engraved"Edwards Mt. Carmel" as you see in the photo. The Overall condition is VERY GOOD. There is 1/2" of Very THIN thread of the wrap loose as seen in the top section of the pole. It looks worse in my photo than in person. And can be easily re-wrapped. It is a 1/2" in length and THIN thread. There is varnish on parts of the metal on the bottom section of the pole. All the wrappings and eyes are in great condition. There is only the one condition which is the thin loose thread ... morein the top wrapping. Other than that, anything would be considered very minor wear. The Varnish has a Superb tone. This comes with the original canvas roll up and its aluminum tube. The aluminum tube is original and has the original decal. The decal is rubbed as seen. But you can still make out Edwards Mt. Carmel. And the tube is missing the end cap. It appears to be a small dent repaired on the very edge of the bell this is like 3 o`clock are when the horn is playing positon( please see last photo when horn lays down on the case as you can see it there not a big deal) There are some scratches inside the bell flare either from fixing and/or trumpet stand as well. Spotted one ding in the flare at 9 o'clock most likely from a mute when horn is in playing position. Actual pistons are in excellent shape with no wear. Both stoppers are present. Now the screws both to the leadpipe and the bell require a screw key which is included in purchase. You can find screws which you can operate by hand if you wish and replace it but those work fine. East Lake also known as Lyonnaise was first marketed in 1879 and made into the 1890's. The pattern was popular and survives in quantity. Birds, fans, and flowers show the Japanese influence in the design. When a pattern has two names, it usually means there were two venues for selling it, like jewelry stores and mail order houses. The dies were also owned by more than one maker, so this pattern appears with a variety of marks, including Rogers, Holmes& Edwards, James Tufts, and Montgomery Ward. The latter was ... morea mark used for sale exclusively through the department store chain. One of the forks offered here is marked Wm Rogers& Son, and the other is marked Holmes& Edwards. The fork is 7 1/2 inches in length and is marked Fred Brodegaard& XII. Fred Brodegaard would be the department store selling this item. And this is not unusual for silver companies to mark the department store's name on this pattern. I'm not seeing any damage here. No pitting, nor spotting. Tines are nice and straight. Please keep in mind that. Teaspoons are about 6 1/8 inches long; bowl is 1 1/4 inches x 2 1/8 inches. Spoons have some scratches; silver plating is intact; back heel has NO wear through. These have NO monogram. These were cleaned with Weiman Silver Cream. I am sure I have missed a few spots; further cleaning I leave to your wishes and methods. Any questions please ask. Holmes & Edwards 58 Pc Danish Princess Inlaid Silver Plate Flatware/Orig Box
This great set is by Holmes& Edwards and is inlaid silver plate. Consists of 58 pieces total, comes in it's original wooden box which is tarnish resistant tested by International Silver Laboratories. The design is Danish Princess, simple& elegant, no monograms. Each piece is marked Holmes& Edwards with the letters- I S in blocks on the back of the set. A few need to be polished, burt overall in quite good shape. The silver chest is a bit scratched up and one hinge looks to need reattachment on one side.
