Lot of 8 Early Vintage Tin Printing Plates Address-O-Graph Great Place Markers + Lots of oldees for you this week- some very cool and very old primitives. Fabulous retro industrial, wonderful original artwork, and even some deco thrown in- there’s something for everyone! These are really neat. I had no idea what they were when I pulled them out of a box at the flea market. But I thought there's so many things that you could do with them- number one being making them into place markers, storage markers, file cabinet or box markers- the possibilities are limited to your imagination! I have 8 in this lot, and each on measures 4" by 2 1/4" and weighs less than 1/4 lb. They are early vintage, if not antique, and are made of tin, with a spot into which you can insert a piece of paper for a label. Marked Address-O-Graph, they were ... moreused printing plates of some sorts for stamping or printing on envelopes, I believe- based on my research. as you can see in my photos- each one has a different person's name in in relief in the tin, along with what appears to be a town name- and then all have"N. MEX after the town name- which I'm assuming is for New Mexico. The red paper labels have the imprint of the information reflected on the relief of the plate- one is missing its label. The labels slide out easily, so will be easy for you to replace too. Each one is marked with a patent number, but the numbers are worn, so I could not make all of the numbers out. They all have a fabulous, rustic, dark patina and you can see just the teeniest smatterings of isolated surface rust on some- it's very minor. No other issues- they are in excellent condition- and very unique! I can't wait to hear what you will do with them- they'd be neat to affix to old wood boxes with your own labels- don't you think? c.1920 Set of 2 Antique Copper Etched Printing Plates
Set of two copper printing plates. Both made circa 1924. The first is an advertisement for the Philadelphia Truss Rod Co. detailing the manner in which their product can prevent hernias. The piece measures 2.5" wide, 3.75" long, and 1" tall. The copper has a wooden block onto which it's mounted. The engraving is in excellent condition, still readily legible, with very little oxidizing. The other plate depicts two workers in some sort of factory. There is slight wear on this piece, mostly around the edges. It's a difficult piece to get an accurate photograph of, but the piece is largely in good condition. It measures 5.25" x 4.25" MB2-4. I attempt to be as accurate as possible. But odd surfaces can prove difficult sometimes as I lack a pair of calipers. I do not take apart or clean anything after listing an item. There are three square cuts. Each with 4 arrows. They are 3" 1 3/32" and 25/32" square. The largest one was used for report covers, the middle one for letterheads, and the smallest one for envelopes. The heavy black arrow is slightly below type high on all three, as it was heavily made ready to maintain the solid, and has pressed down into the wood over the years of use. However, you can see that they are all in good condition, being sharp and clean, but will need considerable make ready to print as well as this proof. These were used by a market research firm. The idea was that information was collected(the open arrows) and collated and interpreted for the client(the solid black arrow) The large one is the configuration used by the company, but you can turn them to whatever direction you want, hence the two small ones pointing ... morein different directions. NAVAJO HAMMERED RECLAIMED COPPER TRAY RECYLED PRINTING PLATES
A very curious and attactive solid copper tray with Navajo South West design. Hand hammered and made from reclaimed old photo printing blocks as revealed by the remaining etched images seen on the bottom of the tray. Those ghost images include a series of portraits, men and women, and a large image of what seems to be Native Americans standing with horses. The tray is very heavy as a result of the copper plate used, that being about 3 pounds. It measures about16 1/2" x 8 1/4" x 1/2" Shipping the tray to any US destination will be $10.00.
