This is a fun pair of vintage Department 56 Easter collectible yellow chicks! Initially I believed them to be made of wood as they are light and hollow. Upon closer inspection. Vintage Japan Mache Mica Bird Band w/ Instruments Set/6 Blue Yellow White
This is an unusual and gorgeous set of 6 birds with instruments. And beaks open as if singing. These lool like chickens, but not sure, maybe roosters with the red comb on their heads. They each wear a plastic hat on their head and have spring necks surrounded by a felt collar. They also have pink foil wings that slide into a slit in their backs. most are still attached, one pair is loose, but is included. They stand on their chicken like feet in a bed of Easter grass on cardboard stands. They are all marked Japan and come in the original box. They stand between 4" and 4.5" There are some small creases and bends in their wings, The yellow bird with the drum has lost some of the mica that coated his body and some of the others have small areas where they have lost mica. I took pictures near a window so you can get a better idea of the color, appears to be yellowish with green undertones to me? but again I'm no expert as this is not usually something I collect. There are many bubbles throught the glass. There is what appears to be a small chip on the corner of the second row of the thatched roof(5th picture) but it actually looks like a bubble that was too close to the surface that popped. NO other chips or cracks. One side reads: St Drakes 1860 Plantation X Bitters, the other side reads: patented 1862. Bottle measures about 10 1/8" tall, base is about 2 7/8" square. Up for bid is a slightly used Fizik Ares TT saddle. I bought this seat along with profile design aerobars to try and make my road bike into a Triathlon bike. However. I never could get the geometry correct, so my loss is your gain. Only ridden for about 10 miles on the road and about 30 minutes while on the trailer in the garage. The seat is in perfect condition. Fi'zi:k Ares T ime Trial( TT) Saddle This slick time trial saddle is a chopped down version of the popular Antares. It's got the same rear. But with a 34mm shorter nose. Why, you ask? UCI restrictions. When the UCI released a rule about the saddle being at least 5cm behind the bottom bracket, the pros started chopping off the front ends of their saddles-that way they could still get the forward rider position and still stay within the guidelines. Old Chinese Japanese Monochrome Yellow Glaze Earthenware Pottery Stand Plate 12"
This listing is for a very early Oriental antique monochrome yellow glazed red clay pedestal stand. It is thick. Heavy, and relatively large, measuring 12.3" diameter and 4.1" tall. It is very heavy for its size- weighing 6.2 pounds(prior to packaging) It is very precisely sculpted, with crisp acute edges and exacting symmetrical and even form(and proportion- the width to height ratio is exactly 3:1) It looks a bit like a cakestand, but with more robust proportion. I am unsure of its original intended purpose, but it does have scratching and wear to the glaze in the center(possibly a display, alter, or serving stand) This stand is extremely old, and is missing its glaze in several areas on the top and most of the lower portion of the foot. The underside of the tray portion is originally unglazed and has a beige color on the surface ... morefrom firing, while chips on the foot show a red color clay beneath. There are a few small spots of white glaze on the top rim. I am not sure if this is from being glazed twice and having a miss or bleed through, or just an impurity exposing itself during the firing. This piece is showing its age with a few chips to the base, and alot of glaze loss, but overall it is in good condition for its age with no gross ceramic loss, cracks, or repairs. 1900 ARTIST-SIGNED ROOKWOOD JONQUIL VASE ON STAND. 7" You are bid ding on a beautiful antique Rookwood pottery vase. 7" tall and approximately 3-1/2" in diameter. As displayed on a n ebonized wood stand that will add another 1-1/4" to the height. The vase has a deep chocolate fading to bronze ground with lovely yellow jonquils. There are a few sur face scratches to the glaze and characteristic fine crazing. Ther e is one line down the side that may be crazing or a crack to the glaze. I've pictured this for you. A bove. The vase has 14 flame marks indicting it was made in 1900. It is numbered 735DD with two additional marks. Which one is the artist's mark. I am not certain. Here’s a great old Medalta Potteries advertising pitcher for the Nanking Tavern. I’m thinking it’s in Alberta somewhere. And it reminds me of the Stuart McClean story about the mid-century chinese restaurant years ago in some small town in Alberta.
