Cosmetically it is much better ... morethan most you will see on eBay, with only some cosmetic scratches and no dents. I have had it on for several days in warm conditions(between 70 and 80F) The temperature does not go all the way down but will goes to about-5C(verified with thermometer) it does NOT run loud and both compressors do come on. There are no strange noises either. The thermostat works well as it stays within 2 degrees of the temperature I set(down to-5C) I am not sure why the tempature does not go colder than-5C. The compressors run until it reaches this temp and then only have to come on for a few minutes every few hours. I am sure there is no leak in the seal around the doors, and the latches are secure. Also, I have taken pictures of the inside of the unit around the condenser and in the back around the compressor and coils to show how clean this unit is. This retail on this lab freezer that is still sold as a new model is almost $9,000 and I could not find it sold new anywhere under $8100. Jouan Deep Freezer Up for auction is a used Jouan PowerFreeze Deep Freezer. Model VXS 490. This unit is in good physical condition with only minor scuffs and scratches due to normal wear. All the buttons and labeling are clear and legible. The unit will drop to a temperature of-87ºC. It is includes a manual and the few other tools shown. Please refer to the pictures provided below for more details on the condition of the item. When we tested this unit it powered on fine. We plugged the unit in and set it to-80°C and let it run overnight. It very slowly started to cool down but within a few hours it was down around freezing. We checked it around midnight and it was about-40 Celsius and running well and still cooling down. When we came in the morning it was colder. But we found that the condenser fan was having issues and was screeching ... morevery loudly. We tried a few things to quiet it down, but nothing seemed to work well. I believe that once this fan is replaced the unit should be in fair working condition. We cannot guarantee exactly how cold this unit will get. But it is at lease under-40°C.
