As the pictures show this scope works. The trace is bright and the focus is good. The fuzzy pix of the 8 MHZ sine wave is due to my lousy camera skills. Now the bad news. Most of the controls are intermittent and dirty. I cleaned some of the easy ones I could reach and it helped. Could be that a high grade contact cleaner and some disassembly will fix this problem. Other problems that I noticed is that the channel one sensitivity is better than channel two. The bandwidth starts to drop off at about 8 MHZ on both channels. The two modulation pictures were taken at 14 MHZ for channel one and 7 MHZ for channel two. The feet are missing from the bottom cover. I have removed the handle so I can fit it in a smaller box. It will be included and is easy to install. No power cord. Manual or probe are included. This scope is sold without warranty. ... moreNo returns will be accepted. This was an excellent oscilloscope before one day it got some problems.You'll have to turn on and off three times then the screen can be stable. Then everything is fine and ready to use. Otherwise the screen would lose focusing and the screen would be brighter. I think maybe something wrong the power switch? It can used for parts. This is lab surplus. And sold for parts, as is, with no return. The oscilloscope powers on, and displays a trace on both channels, but the trace behaves oddly. See the photos. I did not notice any response to the time/division adjustment. Both fine adjustment knobs for volts/division are bent, and the channel 2 knob cover is cracked, but all appear to function properly. Vintage Leader Model 300 Digital Oscilloscope. Features 2 channels, a built in digital multimeter, an accessory printer, an accessory logic analyzer attachment, and the option to be battery powered. The oscilloscope has 10 MHz bandwidth and a maximum sample rate of 30 megasamples per second. There are 2 channels with separate controls. The built-in digital multimeter(see photo 12) has six measurement functions(DC/AC voltage, DC/AC current, resistance, and low-power resistance) Has a continuity beeper function to quickly detect shorts. The DMM measurements are displayed in large numbers on the LCD screen but the DMM and scope sections are electrically isolated. It also features full autoranging with manual range selection possible. The oscilloscope has 7 bits of vertical resolution and 180 words of horizontal resolution which can be increased ... moreto 1800 words. Ten waveforms can be stored internally with up to 40 waveforms stored and a memory card. An automatic set-up function optimizes the vertical, horizontal and trigger settings. All important scope settings are shown on the screen including vertical and horizontal sensitivities, trigger level, scope memory status, etc. The frequency and amplitude of the waveform can also be displayed on the screen as well as the time. A logic analyzer attachment allows up to 8 channels of digital logic levels to be displayed. The oscilloscope can be powered either from the external AC supply or 4 AA batteries. An external thermal printer can print waveforms, DMM results including a data logger function which enables printout of measured values at a selectable time unit, and logic analyzer results. The printer is powered by an internal nickel-cadmium battery which is recharged by an external AC supply. The scope measures 9 inches wide by 6-1/2 inches high by 1-1/2 inches deep. HP 54503A 500 MHz Digital Oscilloscope - New Dallas NVRAM Chip!
I bought this. Had a new NVRAM chip installed, and the o'scope now passes self calibration on channels one and three and saves setup screens and configuration data. The CRT has no burn-in, the exterior is in good shape, and a power cord is included. From my very limited understanding of how oscilloscopes operate, there is probably an issue with the power supply that causes the screen to turn off and on intermittently, as if the power was being reset. I have no clue why channels two and four won't calibrate.
