Here is a very nice Amp Supply no tune amplifier. It will operate on 160- 15 meters. I received it DOA only to find a broken wire at the power switch! The original toggle switches. Power and standby, have always been a weak link with these amps(I did a lot of reading on this one! so both switches have been replaced making it more durable. The tubes that were in it were quite soft so I replaced them with BRAND NEW RCA tubes. The tubes came in the mail two days ago! Before installing them, I checked the plate voltage with my own meter. The meter on the amp reads 800+ volts. My meter read 1240 volts. After doing more reading I learned that it's common for the meter on the amp to read very low on plate voltage. My 1240 volts was close to the original specs which claim 1200 volts. After installing the tubes, I ran a few tests. The tests were ... moreon 20 and 40 and 80 meters. These were on my 40 and 80 dipoles and my triband yagi, all cut for the lower end of the bands. On 20 meters(14.058) cw key down, 50w in = 320w out; 65w in = 410 out; 75w in = 475 out. On 40 meters(7.051) cw key down- 50w in = 260w out; 65w in = 350w out; 75w in = 420w out. 80 meters(3.568) cw key down- 50w in = 290w out, 65w in = 385w out; 75w in = 450w out. I chose NOT to push this amp any further although the manual claims that you can drive it with 100-120 watts. Certainly, with higher drive, you can reach the claim of 700w cw down and 1200w pep. Since the output is linear, the more you drive it with, the more the output! There is no doubt in my mind that this amp is back to original claimed output. The inside of this amp is very clean. There appears to have been NO arcing in its past. Everything looks clean. Everything works including the qsk! The NO TUNE feature is nice! BUT. you should first tune each band to whatever antenna you are using. That is a very easy task and explained in the manual. I had to adjust the TUNE for each band I tested it on for maximum out(and maximum efficiency) The nice thing. Though, is
