Oil Gas Water Well Tricone TCI Drilling Drill Rig Rock Sand Bit Large 12" 65#
Listing is for an oil& gas drill bit. I got this bit as part of an auction lot and honestly don't know much about it. The previous owner was an executive at an oil& gas company in Texas. This is a large and VERY HEAVY bit. It measures approximately 12" long x 7-1/8" at the widest part and weighs 65 pounds. Unfortunately I don't know enough about these to say it's exact condition. Obviously it's been used and I can see several of the teeth are broken and/or missing. I tried turning each of the cones by hand and one spins pretty easily. One takes a bit more force to spin and one doesn't spin at all by hand. All pictures shown are of the ACTUAL bit you will receive. All three cones are tight and secure, and all three cone cutters spin smoothly and freely(NO wobbling or wiggling) The mounting threads also appear to be in good used shape. There are scuffs, scrapes, soil, and some normal expected wear to the cutting'teeth' from use, all as pictured, but it appears to be in overall very good usable condition. good used tricone bit. I don't believe this bit was ever actually used but shows some wear on it. the only problem i can see is that it is missing 1 carbide tooth directly in the center of the wheel. bearings are good and none of the other carbide buttons shows any signs of use. i may deliver personally for a fee but i will not ship. your welcome to come and take a look at it. bit is for sale locally.

heavy 9 lb vintage oil drilling bit
Old oil drilling bit from the old-timer who used it on a rig years ago. Could be from a rig in Ecuador or from one of the other many countries where he worked. It looks like a miniature model of a large Tunnel Boring Machine pictured in articles about underground bases. I thought of Phil Schneider right away. I said it looks like a a mini-tunnel boring machine and he barked right away that he never did anything like that. Maybe he was a paranoid ex-Bechtel spook. Three individual cutters turn easily. Silently. Approx. 6 3/4" long, widest girth at cutters top approx. 3 1/2" and the narrow tapered threaded end approx. 2" dia. Heavy(9 lbs) There are a series of stamped numbers/letters on bottom threaded edge(they look hand-stamped) It's not all that clear even with a magnifying glass. This is a very old Oil Derrick Rock Drilling Cone bit that is chrome but you can see where allot of chrome has off. Especially under the tricone bit gears. Very Unique and weighs 27 pounds. It stands 9 inches tall. Awesome piece of decoration. I do not believe it will function as a bit and I know nothing else about it, if it does function I would not know how to tell. This is a 6 inch bit used for a reamer run in the oil field and had it chrome plated to put on my office desk. the cones are locked in place from the chrome but if you choose to use this bit for water well drilling or whatever all you would have to do it break the chrome loose. personally i like it as the center piece on my drilling office desk. nobody has ever entered my office and not asked about it.

3 and 7/8" tricone roller bit. I have never used this bit. It looks like it has been run. But rebuilt since by Varel or Moab bit or similar. It's in great shape with new rollers and bearings, however, you can tell that it has been in a hole. The male thread is either 2 3/8" api or similar. I am not real familiar with the taper threads.
