It has its original copper plug at 6 o'clock position as made. The plug was inserted at the mint to retard tin pest. This is a peace medal struck to commemorate the Treaty of Paris. Nice. Original American Revolution era belt buckle. William IV was in the British Navy 1778-1790 and was in New York during part of the war. He is fondly referred to as"OUR SAILOR PRINCE" and in later years became King William IV. Could be made by in America by loyalists or in Britain. Antique Coat American Revolution Reenactor Mens Militaria
I had to do a double take when I first spotted this great coat. I have been selling 18th and 19th clothing for years and it didn't take too long to figure this out. This coat was made in the 19thc. in mid to late 18thc. style. It has museum acquisition info. printed on the inside upper back as well as a few stamps that say Grassler. Millwaukee Wisconsin which was a high end costumer of the day. This would have been an expensive garment to make and they may have acquired it and rented it out. This coat has been worn many times. Has some repairs, all the buttons are clearly not there. But the good news is it has great'patina' and looks authentic. I think it has alot of life left in it. If it did not have machine stitching and 19thc. buttons I would have taken it for 18thc. Also the gold trim still has a delicate shine. 8X10 Photo PANCHO VILLA Born June 5. 1878 in Grande, or San Juan del Rio, Durango as Jose Doroteo Arango Arambula. He became a fugitive when he killed an hacendado for attacking his sister. Pancho Villa joined the Madero revolution in 1910. He returned to civilian life and operated a butcher shop after Madero's revolt was successful. When Orozco rebelled against Madero, Villa returned to the field of battle. In 1916, he raided Columbus, New Mexico. Villa continued to fight until 1920 when he surrendered his troops to Adolfo de la Huerta. Retired to Hacienda Canutillo until 1923.
